When Discord is stuck on starting, first check discordstatus.com, then fully quit every Discord process and clear the cache folder. If it still won't open, turn off any proxy or VPN, allow Discord through your firewall, and do a clean reinstall by deleting Discord's app folders before installing a fresh copy from discord.com.

Discord's help center has several articles about a desktop app that won't get past its loading screen. The causes they describe fall into five groups: an outage on Discord's side, a stuck process on your computer, a damaged cache or update, something on your network blocking the connection, or an installation that needs to be replaced. This guide walks through each one in the order that wastes the least time, using the steps Discord Support publishes for Windows and macOS.

## The short answer

Work down this list and stop as soon as Discord opens. The early steps take a minute each. The reinstall takes longer, so save it for when the quick fixes don't work.

1. **Check whether Discord is down**: Open [discordstatus.com](https://discordstatus.com/). If the Desktop, API or Gateway components show a problem, wait for Discord to fix it. Nothing on your computer will help.
2. **Fully quit Discord and reopen it**: Closing the window isn't enough. End every Discord process in Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac), wait 30 seconds, then open it again.
3. **Clear the cache**: With Discord closed, delete the contents of %appdata%/discord/Cache on Windows or ~/Library/Application Support/discord/Cache on a Mac.
4. **Rule out your network**: Set your date and time to update automatically, turn off any proxy or VPN, and make sure your firewall and antivirus allow Discord.
5. **Reinstall cleanly**: Uninstalling alone can leave the broken files behind. Delete Discord's app folders, restart your computer, then install a fresh copy from discord.com.
6. **Use Discord in your browser while you sort it out**: discord.com works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Safari. If it works there, your account and Discord's servers are fine and the problem is the desktop app.

**What does Discord show when it gets stuck?**
- The small loading window never finishes, or keeps updating → Fully quit, clear the cache, then do a clean reinstall if it still loops.
- The main window opens but sits on Connecting → Check the status page, then your date and time, proxy, firewall and DNS.
- A banner says your Discord installation is corrupt → Delete both Discord folders, restart, and reinstall from discord.com.
- The app is stuck, but discord.com works in a browser → Discord's servers are fine. Focus on the desktop app: cache, processes, reinstall.

*Start from what you actually see on screen. Each case has a different first fix.*

## What does it mean when Discord is stuck on starting?

Discord's desktop app is built on Chromium, the same engine behind Google Chrome. Discord's support article on [why it runs multiple processes](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/225733808-Why-does-Discord-have-multiple-processes) explains that a single Discord window is really several programs working together: a main process that restarts the others if they crash, a renderer that draws the interface, a crash reporter and a GPU process. Before you see your servers, the app also checks for updates and connects to Discord's servers.

That means "stuck on starting" can fail at a few different points, and the words on screen are your best clue. Discord's help center describes three of them by name: an endless update on macOS, a main connecting screen that never finishes, and a banner that says your installation is corrupt. Its general troubleshooting guide also lists loading screen freezes as their own category.

| What you see | Most likely cause | Start with |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The small loading window never goes away | A stuck process or a damaged cache | Fully quit, then clear the cache |
| The app updates, restarts and updates again | A failed update, often blocked by a proxy, VPN or firewall | Turn off proxy and VPN, then reinstall cleanly |
| The main window loads but says Connecting | An outage, a wrong system clock, a proxy, a firewall or DNS | Status page, then the network checks |
| "Well, it looks like your Discord installation is corrupt." | Damaged or out-of-date app files | Delete both Discord folders and reinstall |
| A frozen or blank loading screen | Cache, permissions or graphics acceleration | Clear the cache, run as administrator, turn off hardware acceleration |

> These steps come from Discord Support's articles for Windows and macOS. If you use Discord on Linux, the ideas are the same (quit, clear the cache, check the network, reinstall), but the folder locations differ, and Discord's articles used here don't list them.

## Is Discord down right now?

Check this first, because if Discord itself is having trouble, every fix on your computer is wasted effort. Discord runs a public status page at [discordstatus.com](https://discordstatus.com/). It lists each part of the service separately, including the API, the Gateway, Media Proxy, Push Notifications, Search and Voice, plus each client: Desktop, iOS, Android and Web. It also shows voice regions one by one and a history of recent incidents.

Discord's [troubleshooting guide](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/31623498041623-Discord-Troubleshooting-Guide) and its [system requirements article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/213491697-What-are-the-OS-system-requirements-for-Discord) both point you to the status page when the app won't connect. When you read it, look at three rows in particular:

- API and Gateway: if either shows an incident, the problem is on Discord's side, and waiting is the fix.
- Desktop and Web: these are listed separately. If Desktop shows a problem and Web doesn't, use Discord in your browser for now.
- Voice and the voice regions: if the app opens but calls won't connect, look here instead.

You can subscribe to updates on the status page by email, text message or webhook, or follow its RSS and Atom feeds. That saves you refreshing the page during a long outage. Discord's troubleshooting guide also suggests checking Discord's account on X (formerly Twitter) for known issues.

If you run a server and Discord is down, your members can't read your announcements there either. A short post on the other places your community follows you keeps them in the loop. Our guide to [cross-posting to several networks at once](/blog/how-to-cross-post-to-multiple-platforms) covers how to do that without writing the same update five times.

## How do I fully restart Discord?

Clicking the X on Discord's window usually doesn't quit it. It keeps running in your system tray or menu bar, and so do its helper processes. If one of them is frozen, opening Discord again just brings you back to the same stuck screen. Discord's troubleshooting guide says to fully close Discord, check Task Manager, and wait 30 seconds before reopening.

### On Windows

1. **Quit from the system tray**: Discord's Windows articles start every fix by closing Discord in the system tray, not just its window.
2. **Check Task Manager**: Open Task Manager and end every process named Discord. Seeing several is normal, because of the multi-process design described above.
3. **Check the startup list**: Discord's installer article says to end Discord instances in Task Manager and in its startup tab if files are still in use.
4. **Wait, then reopen**: Give it 30 seconds, as Discord's guide suggests, then open Discord from the Start menu.

### On a Mac

1. **Quit properly**: With Discord in front, press Command+Q, or choose Quit from the Discord menu in the menu bar. Discord's macOS article gives both options.
2. **Check Activity Monitor**: Open Activity Monitor (Spotlight finds it quickly) and quit anything named Discord that is still running.
3. **Wait, then reopen**: Wait about 30 seconds and open Discord from Applications.

1. Quit Discord from the tray or menu bar
2. End every Discord process in Task Manager or Activity Monitor
3. Wait 30 seconds
4. Open Discord again

*A full restart clears frozen helper processes that closing the window leaves behind.*

If you also have Discord open in a browser tab, close that too before trying again. Discord's reinstall articles ask you to close every instance, including the browser version, before working on the app.

## How do I clear Discord's cache?

Discord stores temporary files on your computer so it loads faster. If those files get damaged, the app can hang while trying to read them. Clearing the cache is listed as a fix for loading screen freezes and as one of the common troubleshooting steps in Discord's guide. It's quick and doesn't touch your account.

| Computer | Cache folder from Discord's guide |
| --- | --- |
| Windows | %appdata%/discord/Cache |
| Mac | ~/Library/Application Support/discord/Cache |

### Clear the cache on Windows

1. **Quit Discord completely**: Use the full restart steps above. Files that are in use can't be deleted.
2. **Open the Run box**: Press the Windows key and R together, type %appdata% and press Enter.
3. **Find the cache**: Open the discord folder, then the Cache folder inside it.
4. **Delete what's inside**: Select everything in the Cache folder and delete it. Then open Discord again.

### Clear the cache on a Mac

1. **Quit Discord completely**: Press Command+Q and check Activity Monitor for leftover Discord processes.
2. **Go to the folder**: In Finder, press Shift+Command+G (Go to Folder) and enter ~/Library/Application Support/discord/Cache.
3. **Delete what's inside**: Move the contents to the Trash, then open Discord again.

> Clearing the cache is different from the clean reinstall later in this guide. The cache step deletes one subfolder. The reinstall deletes the whole Discord folder plus the app. Try the small step first.

## Why does Discord keep updating and never open?

Every time it starts, the desktop app checks for an update and installs it before showing your servers. If the download is blocked or the files it writes are damaged, you can end up in a loop. Discord's [macOS install and update article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022082931--macOS-Install-and-Updating-Errors) calls this an endless update, and says that completely reinstalling Discord often fixes the updater.

Discord's troubleshooting guide lists four fixes for update problems. Try them in this order:

1. Force quit Discord from Task Manager on Windows or Activity Monitor on a Mac.
2. Turn off any proxy or VPN while Discord installs or updates.
3. Check that your firewall isn't blocking Discord.
4. Delete the Discord AppData folder on Windows, or the Application Support folder on a Mac, and reinstall. The clean reinstall sections below show exactly which folders.

For installation errors on Windows, the same guide adds running the installer as administrator and temporarily turning off your antivirus during installation. If you do switch antivirus off, turn it back on as soon as Discord is installed, and only ever install Discord from discord.com.

Once Discord opens, you can check for updates later from its settings. Discord's troubleshooting guide says to look under Settings › App Settings, or to download a fresh install from discord.com if needed.

## How do I reinstall Discord cleanly on Windows?

A regular uninstall can leave Discord's folders behind, and those folders are often where the problem lives. Discord's [Windows corrupt installation article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004307527--Windows-Corrupt-Installation) and its [Windows installer errors article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/209099387--Windows-Installer-Errors) both describe the same clean reinstall. This is also the fix for the banner that says "Well, it looks like your Discord installation is corrupt."

1. **Close every Discord process**: Quit from the system tray, then end every Discord process in Task Manager. Discord warns that stray processes can hide in the tray or Task Manager, so check both.
2. **Delete the first folder**: Press Windows+R, type %appdata% and press Enter. Find the folder called Discord and delete it.
3. **Delete the second folder**: Press Windows+R again, type %localappdata% and press Enter. Find the Discord folder there and delete it too.
4. **If Windows says a file is in use**: Open Task Manager, end every Discord instance there and in the startup tab, and try deleting again.
5. **Restart your computer**: Discord's article lists the restart as its own step. It clears anything still holding on to Discord's files.
6. **Install a fresh copy**: Download the Windows installer from discord.com/download and run it.

1. Quit Discord and end every process
2. Delete %AppData%/Discord
3. Delete %LocalAppData%/Discord
4. Restart Windows
5. Install fresh from discord.com

*The two folders are the part a normal uninstall skips.*

If the fresh install still won't start, Discord lists two extra steps for some cases: set the Discord application (in %LocalAppData%/Discord, inside the folder for the most recent version) to run as administrator, and set its compatibility mode to Windows 7 or Windows 8, trying both. Discord's troubleshooting guide also mentions running Discord as administrator as a fix for loading screen freezes.

> Discord's troubleshooting guide says to back up your Discord settings and data before trying installation fixes. Deleting the local folders resets the app on this computer, so you may need to sign in again. Have your password and any two-factor codes ready.

## How do I reinstall Discord on a Mac?

The Mac version follows the same idea: quit everything, remove Discord's support folders and the app itself, restart, and install again. These steps are from Discord's macOS install and updating article.

1. **Quit Discord and its processes**: Press Command+Q or choose Quit from the menu bar, then use Activity Monitor to make sure no Discord process is left.
2. **Open Go to Folder**: In Finder, press Shift+Command+G, or choose Go › Go to Folder from the menu bar.
3. **Remove your user folder**: Enter ~/Library/Application Support, find the Discord folder and drag it to the Trash.
4. **Remove the system folder if it exists**: Open Go to Folder again and enter /Library/Application Support (no ~ this time). Drag any Discord folder there to the Trash. Discord notes there may not be one, and that's fine.
5. **Remove the app**: Open Applications, drag Discord to the Trash, then empty the Trash.
6. **Restart and reinstall**: Restart your Mac, then download Discord again from discord.com.

1. Quit Discord and check Activity Monitor
2. Trash ~/Library/Application Support/Discord
3. Trash /Library/Application Support/Discord if present
4. Trash the app and empty the Trash
5. Restart and download a fresh copy

*The tilde matters: one folder is in your user Library, the other in the system Library.*

If Finder says a file can't be deleted because it's in use, open Activity Monitor, quit every Discord instance and try again. Discord's article also notes that macOS running on a computer not made by Apple can run into its own issues.

## Could my network, proxy or VPN be blocking Discord?

If Discord loads but sits on Connecting, or updates fail every time, something between your computer and Discord may be getting in the way. Discord's [stuck on the main connecting screen](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001130052-Stuck-on-the-Main-Connecting-Screen) article lists the checks below. Its console errors article is blunt about one of them: Discord doesn't work with proxies.

### Set your date and time to automatic

Discord's first suggestion for the connecting screen is to double-check that your computer's date and time are set automatically. Turn on automatic date and time in your system settings, then fully restart Discord.

### Turn off any proxy

Discord's article gives these paths for checking proxy settings. On Windows, the article's path ends with unticking Use a Proxy. On a Mac, the goal is to make sure no proxies are turned on.

Windows: Control Panel › Network and Internet › Internet Options › Connections › LAN Settings

*In LAN Settings, untick Use a Proxy. The path is the one Discord's article gives.*

For a Mac, Discord's article gives System Preferences › Network › Advanced › Proxies, and says to make sure no proxies are enabled. The article dates from older macOS versions, so the names on your Mac may differ. The goal stays the same: no proxy turned on for the network you're using.

### Pause your VPN

Discord's troubleshooting guide says to turn off proxies and VPNs while installing or updating, and lists VPN or firewall interference among connection problems. If Discord starts with the VPN off, you've found the cause. You can then check whether your VPN has a setting to let Discord bypass it.

### Allow Discord through your firewall and antivirus

Discord asks you to make sure your firewall lets Discord connect. Its console errors article adds that missing icons and images usually mean something is blocking Discord, and suggests temporarily turning off, or allowlisting, Discord in your antivirus or firewall. Allowlisting is the better long-term fix, because it keeps the rest of your protection on.

### Scan for malware

This one surprises people, but Discord recommends it twice. Its connecting screen article suggests scanning your computer with Malwarebytes, clearing any threats, restarting and relaunching Discord. Its console errors article adds that if you see proxy errors and never turned on a proxy yourself, you should scan for viruses.

### Try a different DNS and renew your IP address

If connection errors keep coming back, Discord's guides suggest switching to a different DNS server, such as Google Public DNS. Discord's macOS article lists the addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (and 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844 for IPv6), added under your network's DNS settings.

After that, try renewing your IP address. On Windows, Discord's console errors article says to open Command Prompt as administrator and run these three commands, pressing Enter after each:

1. ipconfig /release
2. ipconfig /flushdns
3. ipconfig /renew

On a Mac, Discord's articles describe renewing the DHCP lease from your network's TCP/IP settings. Then close the settings and relaunch Discord. Testing your speed at speedtest.net, which Discord's guide also suggests, or trying a different network such as a phone hotspot, tells you quickly whether the problem follows your computer or stays with your connection.

### School and work networks

If Discord only fails on one network, such as a school or office connection, that network may be filtering it. The fixes above are about your own computer. On a network you don't manage, the only proper fix is to ask whoever runs it, or use a network you control.

## How do I read Discord's console errors?

If none of the above has worked, Discord's connecting screen article says to press Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows (Option+Command+I on a Mac) and check the console for errors. Discord's [console log errors article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001239472-Troubleshooting-Console-Log-Errors) notes that to see the Console tab in Developer Tools, you first need the PTB or Canary version of Discord, which are covered in the browser section below. Once it's open, click the Console tab and look for red error messages.

| Error you see | What Discord says it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED | A proxy is in the way. Discord doesn't work with proxies. | Turn off every proxy. If you never set one, scan for malware. |
| ERR_CONNECTION_RESET, ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT, ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED, ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED, ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE | Connection problems | Scan for malware, then switch to Google Public DNS, then renew your IP address. |
| status of 404 (icons, avatars or pictures not loading) | Something is blocking Discord | Allowlist Discord in your antivirus or firewall, and clear your browser cache and cookies. |

Even if you don't fix it yourself, a screenshot of these errors is exactly what Discord's support team needs. Keep it for the report described at the end of this guide.

## Does my computer meet Discord's requirements?

Older systems can still run Discord, but Discord's [requirements article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/213491697-What-are-the-OS-system-requirements-for-Discord) says support for them is limited and they may run into problems. If your computer is below these minimums, updates can fail and the app can stop opening.

| System | Minimum Discord lists |
| --- | --- |
| Windows | Windows 10 or later |
| Mac | macOS 12 (Monterey) or later |
| Linux | Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 11+, openSUSE 16.2+, Fedora Linux 32+ |
| Android (app) | Android 7 or later; Android 10 or later recommended |
| iPhone and iPad (app) | iOS 16.0 or later |

Discord's troubleshooting guide also recommends at least 4 GB of RAM. It says beta operating systems aren't supported, so if you're testing a beta version of Windows or macOS, some features may not work properly. Discord's older macOS article mentions much older minimums. The requirements article was updated more recently, so go by the table above.

### Turn off hardware acceleration

Discord lists turning off hardware acceleration as a fix for loading screen freezes in its troubleshooting guide, and as a fix for lag in the desktop app in its requirements article. You can only change it if Discord opens far enough to reach its settings, so it helps most when the app loads but freezes or stutters.

Discord desktop app: User Settings › Advanced › Hardware Acceleration

*Turn the switch off. Discord's requirements article gives this path.*

If Discord starts fine but hangs on RTC Connecting when you join a voice channel, that's a different problem. Discord's [AMD troubleshooting article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/4978019693463-AMD-GPU-CPU-RTC-CONNECTING-Troubleshooting) says that on some computers with AMD processors or graphics cards, mostly older models, Discord can get stuck setting up the hardware video encoder. Its fixes are to reinstall Discord, update your graphics driver, and turn off the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems in Voice and Video settings. It also notes that Discord in the browser doesn't have the problem.

## Can I use Discord in a browser while the app is broken?

Yes, and it's the fastest way to get back to your friends while you fix the app. Discord's [testing clients article](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035675191-Discord-Testing-Clients) says you can open the regular version by going to discord.com and clicking Open Discord. It also works as a test: if the browser version loads, your account and Discord's servers are fine, and the problem is the desktop app on your computer.

| Browser | Minimum version Discord lists |
| --- | --- |
| Google Chrome | 108 |
| Mozilla Firefox | 142 |
| Opera | 72 |
| Microsoft Edge | 86 |
| Safari | 15.4 |

Discord says running it in a mobile browser isn't supported, so on a phone, use the Discord app instead.

### Try the PTB or Canary version

Discord runs two early versions next to the regular one. PTB (Public Test Build) usually has a few more bugs than the stable app but shouldn't get in the way of normal use. Canary is the least stable and gets the most updates. Both have their own web addresses (ptb.discord.com and canary.discord.com), and the PTB installer is on discord.com/download. They're useful when you need the developer console, or when you want to see whether a problem is specific to the stable app.

**Stable app**
- The standard version everyone uses
- Usually has few bugs
- No developer console tab, per Discord

**Discord in a browser**
- Open discord.com and click Open Discord
- No install needed
- Not supported in mobile browsers

**PTB or Canary**
- Early versions with newer features
- More bugs, Canary most of all
- Needed to open the console

*The browser version is the quickest stopgap. PTB and Canary are for testing and console access.*

### If you run a server or community

If you're a regular member, the browser version covers almost everything you need. If you run a server or a community, a stuck app is more of a problem: you might have a scheduled event, a giveaway or a stream announcement waiting to go out.

- Draft the announcement anyway. Our free [Discord announcement generator](/tools/discord-announcement-generator) writes one from a few notes, and the [Discord post generator](/tools/discord-post-generator) handles general updates. Paste either into the browser version.
- Check the length before you send it. The [Discord character counter](/tools/discord-character-counter) shows how close you are to Discord's message and profile limits.
- If Discord itself is down, tell people where they already are. That might be X, Threads or Reddit. PostMesh can post the same update to [X](/platform/twitter), [Threads](/platform/threads) and [Reddit](/platform/reddit) at once through each network's official API, or schedule it for later.
- Plan the next announcement ahead. Our guide to [scheduling tweets](/blog/how-to-schedule-tweets) covers queuing updates so a bad startup day doesn't cost you a post.

## What if nothing works?

If you've done a clean reinstall, turned off proxies and VPNs, allowed Discord through your firewall, checked the status page and Discord still won't start, you may have hit a bug. Discord's troubleshooting guide describes what to do next.

1. **Write down what happens**: Take screenshots or a screen recording, including any error messages and the console errors from Developer Tools.
2. **Note the steps that cause it**: Be specific: what you click, what you see, how long you wait. Include your system details, such as your Windows or macOS version.
3. **Check whether others have it too**: Search Discord's support site and check the status page. If many people report the same thing, it may already be known.
4. **Contact Discord Support**: Discord's macOS and Windows installer articles point to dis.gd/contact for help when the steps above don't work. Include everything you gathered.

> Only download Discord from discord.com or your device's official app store. Discord's own articles link to its download page, and a copy from anywhere else can bring the same malware that Discord's guides tell you to scan for.

## How do I stop Discord getting stuck again?

Some startup problems are outages you can't prevent. Others come from your setup, and a few habits make them much rarer.

**Keep Discord starting cleanly**
- [ ] Quit Discord fully before shutting down or updating your computer
- [ ] Keep your system on Windows 10+ or macOS 12+
- [ ] Leave date and time set to automatic
- [ ] Allowlist Discord in your firewall and antivirus
- [ ] Pause your VPN or proxy if Discord updates fail
- [ ] Install only from discord.com or official app stores
- [ ] Bookmark discordstatus.com for outage checks

*Most of these come straight from Discord Support's troubleshooting steps.*

Keeping your operating system and drivers up to date also helps. Discord's requirements article lists updating your device to the latest OS version and drivers as a fix for lag, and its AMD article lists an up-to-date graphics driver as a fix for voice connection hangs.

### Once you're back in

A clean reinstall resets the app on your computer, so it's a good moment to check your profile looks the way you want. If you want fresh ideas, our list of [Discord bio ideas](/blog/discord-bio-ideas) has examples by style, and the [Discord bio generator](/tools/discord-bio-generator) writes a few from a description of you. For names and styling, try the [Discord name generator](/tools/discord-name-generator) or the [Discord font generator](/tools/discord-font-generator). Server owners refreshing their look can size a banner with the [Discord banner resizer](/tools/discord-banner-resizer) or make a simple monogram icon with the [Discord logo maker](/tools/discord-logo-generator).

## Questions

### Why is my Discord stuck on the starting screen?

Usually a frozen background process, a damaged cache or update, or something on your network blocking Discord. Less often, Discord itself is down, which discordstatus.com will show.

### Will reinstalling Discord delete my messages or servers?

The clean reinstall Discord describes removes only the app and its folders on your computer. You may need to sign in again afterward, and Discord suggests backing up your settings first.

### Is it safe to delete the Discord folders in AppData?

Yes, it's the method Discord Support gives for corrupt installations and installer errors. Close every Discord process first or Windows won't let you delete them.

### Why does Discord show several processes in Task Manager?

Discord is built on Chromium, which splits the app into a main process, a renderer, a crash reporter and a GPU process. Discord says this is normal.

### Does Discord work with a VPN?

Some VPNs and proxies stop Discord from connecting or updating. Discord's guide says to turn off proxies and VPNs during installation, and its console errors article says Discord doesn't work with proxies.

### How do I check if Discord is down?

Open discordstatus.com. It lists the API, Gateway, Voice and each client separately, and you can subscribe to incident updates by email, text message or webhook.

### Can I use Discord without the desktop app?

Yes. Go to discord.com and click Open Discord in a supported browser such as Chrome 108+, Firefox 142+ or Safari 15.4+. Mobile browsers aren't supported, so use the app on phones.

### Why can't I open the console in Discord?

Discord's console errors article says the Console tab in Developer Tools needs the PTB or Canary version. Install one from discord.com/download, then press Ctrl+Shift+I or Option+Command+I.

### Does Discord still work on Windows 7 or 8?

Discord's requirements article lists Windows 10 or later as the minimum. Older versions may still run Discord, but support is limited and you may hit problems.
