# Free Hootsuite alternatives: what each free plan really includes

Canonical: https://postmesh.app/blog/free-hootsuite-alternatives

By PostMesh team. Published 2026-10-31; updated 2026-10-31.

Hootsuite has no free plan, only a 14-day trial, so a free alternative means a tool with a permanent free tier: Buffer (3 channels, 10 scheduled posts each), Metricool (20 scheduled posts a month), Publer (3 accounts, 10 scheduled posts each), Pallyy (15 image posts a month) or Meta Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram. Each caps something, and none replaces Hootsuite's inbox, listening and approvals in full.

People look for a free Hootsuite alternative for two different reasons. Some never needed most of Hootsuite and only want to schedule a few posts a week. Others rely on its inbox or approvals and want to know what they lose by paying nothing. This guide answers both. Every plan, price and limit below comes from each tool's own pricing or help page, opened on October 31, 2026. Prices change often, so check the linked page before you commit.

## The short answer

If you post to three accounts or fewer and only need scheduling, a free plan from Buffer, Publer or Metricool will likely cover you. If you only post to Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite is free and also has an inbox. If you need an inbox across many networks, social listening or approvals, no free plan we checked replaces Hootsuite, and you're choosing between paid tools.

| Tool | Free plan? | Accounts on free | Scheduled posts on free | The catch |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Hootsuite | No, 14-day trial | 10 during a Standard trial | 10 to 20 posts a day per organization during the trial | No bulk scheduling in the trial; then $99 per user a month, billed annually |
| Buffer | Yes | 3 channels | 10 queued per channel, refilled as posts go out | 1 user, 30 days of insights, no reports or approvals |
| Metricool | Yes | 1 brand | 20 a month | No LinkedIn or X on the free plan |
| Publer | Yes | 3 social accounts | 10 queued per account | No X on the free plan, posts kept for 24 hours |
| Pallyy | Yes | 1 social set | 15 a month | Image posts only, no video or Reels |
| Meta Business Suite | Free to use | Your Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts | Not capped on the help pages we read | Meta's apps only |
| Zoho Social | Yes | 1 brand, 6 channels | Scheduling is listed under Standard, not Free | A free plan that doesn't schedule |

**What do you need from a free Hootsuite alternative?**
- Scheduling for 3 accounts or fewer → Start with Buffer or Publer's free plan, or Metricool if you post 20 times a month or less and don't need LinkedIn or X.
- Facebook and Instagram only → Use Meta Business Suite. It's free and includes scheduling, an inbox and insights for Meta's apps.
- 4 or more accounts, scheduling only → Free plans run out here. Compare paid schedulers by price per account, or self-host Postiz if you can run a server.
- Inbox, listening or approvals → No free plan covers this across networks. Look at paid tools such as Hootsuite, Agorapulse or Sprout Social.

*Plans and limits checked on each tool's pricing page, October 31, 2026.*

## Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

No. Hootsuite's [plans page](https://www.hootsuite.com/plans), checked October 31, 2026, lists Standard, Professional, Advanced and Enterprise, and none of them is free. Standard, Professional and Advanced each come with a free 14-day trial. Enterprise is sold through a demo.

The trial has limits worth knowing before you start one. The page's footnote says trial accounts have daily posting limits of 10 to 20 posts per organization, depending on the plan, and that bulk scheduling isn't available during the trial. So a trial is a fair way to test the inbox and reports, but not a way to load a month of posts for free.

After the trial, Standard starts at $99 per user a month and Professional at $199 per user a month, both shown with annual billing. Standard covers 10 social accounts and Professional covers unlimited accounts. Because the price is per user, a team of three on Standard pays three seats.

- Day 1: Start a free trial of Standard, Professional or Advanced.
- Each day of the trial: Publish up to 10 to 20 posts per organization, depending on the plan. Bulk scheduling is off.
- Day 14: The trial ends. To keep publishing, pick a paid plan, from $99 per user a month billed annually.

## What does a free alternative need to replace?

Hootsuite is a management platform, not only a scheduler. Before you compare free plans, list which of its jobs you actually use. These are the parts its plans page describes, plan by plan:

### Scheduling and publishing

Every Hootsuite plan schedules posts from one calendar, and Standard schedules unlimited posts to up to 10 accounts. This is the part free plans copy best, but with caps: a number of queued posts, a number of accounts, or both.

### The inbox

Standard lets you answer messages from one inbox. Professional adds automated inbox replies, and Advanced adds assigning and routing messages to team members. Of the free plans here, Buffer's includes a community inbox for comments, and Meta Business Suite's covers Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

### Listening

Standard monitors your brand and competitors, Professional searches up to 30 days of conversations with Quick Search, and Enterprise adds listening powered by Lumen with 13 months of history. None of the free plans we checked offer listening beyond Metricool's competitor tracking of 5 profiles.

### Approvals and roles

Hootsuite lists reviewing and approving content with your team on Advanced. Free plans are single-user: Buffer, Publer and Pallyy each allow 1 user on free, and Metricool lists its post approval system as unavailable on free.

### Analytics and reports

Hootsuite's FAQ includes analytics and reporting, with custom reports from Professional. Free plans tend to keep a short history: Buffer and Metricool both keep 30 days of analytics on free, and Pallyy keeps 30 days.

| Hootsuite job | Free plan that covers some of it | What's still missing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Scheduling | Buffer, Publer, Metricool, Pallyy, Meta Business Suite | Volume: caps of 10 to 20 queued or monthly posts |
| Inbox | Buffer (community inbox), Meta Business Suite (Meta apps) | Assignment, routing and automated replies |
| Listening | Metricool (5 competitor profiles) | Keyword and conversation search |
| Approvals | None on free | All of it |
| Reports | 30-day insights on Buffer, Metricool and Pallyy | Custom, scheduled and exported reports |

If most of your rows land on scheduling, you're shopping for a scheduler, and the free plans below are a real option. If you need the other rows, read [scheduler vs management platform](/blog/social-media-scheduler-vs-management-platform) before you decide, because the price gap between the two categories is large.

## What does Buffer's free plan include?

Buffer's [pricing page](https://buffer.com/pricing), checked October 31, 2026, has a Free plan with no time limit. It connects up to 3 channels for 1 user, with 10 scheduled posts per channel. The limit is on the queue, not the month: Buffer describes it as refilling anytime, so once a post goes out you can add another.

### What you get for $0

- 3 channels and 1 user.
- 10 scheduled posts per channel at any time, plus 100 saved ideas.
- A community inbox with replies to comments, which the page lists for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, X, TikTok, Google Business Profile, YouTube and Mastodon.
- The AI Assistant, a Start Page, a visual calendar and link shortening.
- Insights with 30 days of history.
- 5 AI reply suggestions a week, 1 saved reply and 1 API key.

### What the free plan leaves out

The page lists first comment scheduling, channel groups, the hashtag manager, custom video covers, reports, custom UTM parameters, approval workflows and custom access permissions as not included on Free. If you rely on UTM tags to track clicks, you can still build them by hand with our free [UTM builder](/tools/utm-builder) and paste the link into the post.

### Who Buffer's free plan suits

One person posting a few times a week to three channels, who wants to answer comments in one place. It covers 12 networks, including Pinterest, Bluesky and Mastodon, which some paid tools don't. Paid plans start at $5 per channel a month for Essentials ($60 per channel billed yearly), with a 14-day free trial, so the cost grows with each channel you add. Our [Buffer comparison](/compare/buffer-alternative) works through the numbers at 3, 10, 25 and 50 accounts.

## What does Metricool's free plan include?

Metricool's [pricing page](https://metricool.com/pricing/), checked October 31, 2026, offers a Free plan at $0 a month for 1 brand. You can schedule up to 20 posts a month, keep 30 days of analytics and analyze 5 competitor profiles. The page also lists its AI social media assistant on Free.

### The network gap

The free plan manages your brand's networks except LinkedIn and Twitter, in Metricool's own words. LinkedIn arrives with the Starter plan, and X is an add-on on paid plans. If LinkedIn is where your audience is, the free plan isn't a fit, and LinkedIn's own scheduler (covered below) may serve you better.

### What else is missing on free

Metricool's comparison tables mark the post approval system, recurring scheduling, scheduling PDFs and polls, automated and downloadable reports, and the Canva and Google Drive integrations as unavailable on Free. Paid plans start from $20 a month for Starter on annual billing, or from $25 billed monthly.

### Who Metricool's free plan suits

A single brand that posts about five times a week or less to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest or Bluesky, and wants competitor numbers alongside its own. Twenty posts a month means one post a day uses the plan up in under three weeks.

## What does Publer's free plan include?

Publer's [plans page](https://publer.com/plans), checked October 31, 2026, calls its Free plan free forever. It includes 1 user, 1 workspace and 3 social accounts, with 10 scheduled posts per account. When a scheduled post is published or deleted, you can schedule another one, and Publer says there's no such limit when you publish right away.

### Limits to know

- X accounts can't be connected on the free plan. Publer says it supports X only on paid plans because of the cost of X's API.
- Published posts are kept on Publer's servers for 24 hours on free, so your post history is short.
- 25 saved drafts at a time.
- Pinterest accounts on free need at least 100 followers or a claimed website.

The free plan includes free trials of most paid features without a card, and Linkie, Publer's link-in-bio page. Publer showed paid prices in our local currency when we checked, so we've left them out. Its FAQ says paying yearly gives a 20% discount.

### Who Publer's free plan suits

Someone with three accounts across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, YouTube or Pinterest, who doesn't post to X and doesn't need a long history inside the tool.

## What does Pallyy's free plan include?

Pallyy's [pricing page](https://pallyy.com/pricing), checked October 31, 2026, sums up its Free plan as one social set, 15 scheduled posts a month, image posts only, with no card needed. It has 1 team user, 200 MB of media storage and 30 days of analytics retention, with Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn analytics and 1 competitor tracked on Instagram.

The image-only rule is the big one. The comparison table marks video, carousel and Reels publishing as unavailable on free, along with AI captions, approvals, the inbox and bio link pages. Paid plans start at $25 a month for Pro, with a 14-day trial that asks for a card.

Pallyy's free plan suits a photo-led account, such as a café or a photographer, posting three or four images a week. Anyone whose plan depends on Reels or short video should look elsewhere.

- 3 x 10: Buffer: channels, and queued posts per channel
- 20: Metricool: scheduled posts a month
- 3 x 10: Publer: accounts, and queued posts per account
- 15: Pallyy: image posts a month

*From each tool's pricing page, checked October 31, 2026.*

## Are there free tools from the networks themselves?

Yes, and they're often overlooked. If you post to one or two networks, their own schedulers cost nothing and can't be cut off by a third-party plan change.

### Meta Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram

Meta's help center says [Meta Business Suite](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/205614130852988) is free to use on desktop and in its mobile app. It lets you create, schedule and manage Facebook and Instagram content, see it in a calendar, view insights, and read and reply to messages and comments from your Facebook Page, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Business account in one inbox. You need a business portfolio to use it.

To schedule, Meta's [scheduling help page](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/2223502627919449) says to open Content and Create post, compose the post, turn on the Scheduling options toggle, pick a date and time (or tap Active times to see when your audience is online), then choose Schedule. Scheduled posts appear in the Planner tab and under Content, Posts & reels, Scheduled.

Meta Business Suite: Content › Create post › Scheduling options › Schedule

*From Meta's help page on saving, scheduling and rescheduling posts.*

Of every option in this guide, Meta Business Suite is the closest free match to what Hootsuite does, because it schedules, has an inbox and shows insights. The limit is reach: it covers Meta's apps, so LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube and Reddit need something else. For Instagram-specific scheduling options, see [how to schedule Instagram posts](/blog/how-to-schedule-instagram-posts).

### LinkedIn's built-in scheduler

LinkedIn's [help page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a1347212) says you can schedule a post between 10 minutes and 3 months from now, using the clock icon in the post composer. Events and jobs can't be scheduled. For one LinkedIn profile, that's a free scheduler with a longer window than most third-party tools. Our guide to [scheduling LinkedIn posts](/blog/how-to-schedule-linkedin-posts) covers the steps and the alternatives.

### YouTube Studio

YouTube's [scheduled publishing](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1270709) sets a private video to go public at a time you pick, in YouTube Studio or the YouTube app. One exception to know: if your channel has a Community Guidelines strike, the video stays private during the penalty and you have to reschedule it afterwards. See [how to schedule YouTube videos](/blog/how-to-schedule-youtube-videos) for the full flow.

### The trade-off with native tools

Native schedulers are free and reliable, but you write and schedule each post separately in each app. With three networks, a weekly post becomes three sessions, three captions to check and three calendars to keep in sync. That repetition is what free and paid schedulers charge to remove.

## Which free options are really trials?

Several tools that appear in lists of free Hootsuite alternatives either have no free plan, have a free plan that can't schedule, or ended their free plan. This is what each one's own page said on October 31, 2026:

| Tool | What's free | What the page says |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Zoho Social | A forever-free plan | 1 brand with 6 channels, 1 team member and 5 AI credits. Content scheduling and the publishing calendar are listed under Standard, not Free. A 15-day all-access trial needs no card. |
| Planable | The first 50 posts | 50 posts in total, not per month, with no time limit and no card. X publishing isn't included in the trial. |
| Agorapulse | A 30-day trial | Its help center says the Free plan stopped being available on July 6, 2026. The trial needs no card. |
| Later | A 14-day trial | No free plan on the pricing page. Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly. |
| Sprout Social | A 30-day trial | No card needed. Essentials is $79 per seat a month billed annually, or $99 monthly. |
| SocialBee | A 14-day trial | No card needed. Posting stops when the trial expires. Bootstrap is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly. |
| Vista Social | A 14-day trial | No card needed. Professional is $99 a month for 15 profiles. |
| Sendible | A 14-day trial | No card needed. No free plan listed. |
| Post Bridge | A 7-day trial | Marketer is $39 a month for 15 accounts. |
| Postiz (cloud) | A 7-day trial | Standard is $29 a month for 5 channels, $23 a month billed yearly. |

> A trial is useful even if you plan to stay free: it shows whether the paid features you think you need are worth paying for. Set a calendar reminder two days before it ends, especially on trials that took a card.

### Can I self-host a free scheduler instead?

Yes, if you're comfortable running software on your own server. Postiz publishes its code on [GitHub](https://github.com/gitroomhq/postiz-app) under the AGPL-3.0 license, and its README describes the open-source edition as free forever, with you paying only for your own infrastructure. It lists Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Threads, X, Bluesky, Mastodon, Discord and Slack among the places it schedules to.

Free here means no license fee, not no cost. You pay for hosting, and you take on updates, backups and keeping each network's connection working. Postiz's pricing page also notes that self-hosting is a secondary option to its hosted cloud. It suits a developer or a team with someone technical. Everyone else is usually better served by a hosted free plan or a low-cost paid one.

**Hosted free plan**
- Nothing to install
- Caps on accounts or posts
- Usually 1 user
- The vendor can change the plan

**Free trial**
- Full paid features
- Ends after 7 to 30 days
- Some ask for a card
- Hootsuite's caps daily posts

**Self-hosted (Postiz)**
- No license fee
- You pay for hosting
- You handle updates and backups
- Needs technical skill

## Where does PostMesh fit?

PostMesh isn't free. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, then Creator is $29 a month for 10 connected accounts, Growth is $49 for 50 and Pro is $99 for unlimited accounts, with unlimited publishing on all three. Paid yearly, they work out to $22, $37 and $75 a month. See [pricing](/pricing) for the full table.

It's a scheduler, not a management platform. You write a post once, PostMesh checks it against each network's limits, and it publishes or schedules it up to 30 days ahead to Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, Reddit, X, LinkedIn profiles, YouTube and TikTok. Seven of those networks use their official APIs. [Instagram](/platform/instagram) connects with Instagram Login and publishes through Instagram's API, with likes and comments shown in PostMesh.

What it doesn't do matters as much here. PostMesh has no inbox for replies and no social listening, and each plan is for one person today: team members are coming to Growth and Pro, with approvals and client links on Pro. If those are why you used Hootsuite, PostMesh won't replace them. Our [Hootsuite comparison](/compare/hootsuite-alternative) lays out every difference and says who should stay with Hootsuite.

### When PostMesh makes more sense than a free plan

- You post to more than three accounts, so every free plan here is already too small, and you'd rather pay one price for 10 than pay per channel.
- You post to Reddit. PostMesh posts to your profile or a community, shows the community's flairs and checks rules like required flair before it sends. See [Reddit scheduling](/platform/reddit).
- You want each post checked against every network's limits before it goes, and retries that resend only to the accounts that failed.
- You want to plan and publish through an API or an AI assistant: every plan includes API and MCP access.

### When a free plan or another tool is the better pick

- You have three accounts or fewer and post a few times a week. A free plan costs nothing and does the job.
- You need Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business Profile or LinkedIn Company Pages, which PostMesh doesn't post to yet.
- You answer comments from one inbox, or your team needs approvals today.
- You need social listening.

**Free plans**
- $0
- 3 accounts or 1 brand
- 10 to 20 queued or monthly posts
- Pick these for light posting

**PostMesh**
- 7-day trial, then $29 a month
- 10 accounts on Creator
- Unlimited publishing
- No inbox or listening

**Hootsuite**
- 14-day trial, then $99 per user a month
- 10 accounts on Standard
- Inbox and listening included
- Approvals from Advanced

*Hootsuite prices are billed annually. Checked October 31, 2026.*

## How do I pick the right free plan for my accounts?

Count your accounts, count your posts per month, and note any network you can't do without. Then match. These worked examples use the limits above:

### A solo creator on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube

Three accounts, about 12 posts a month. Buffer's free plan fits: 3 channels with 10 queued posts each is more than enough if you top up the queue weekly. Publer also fits. Metricool's 20 posts a month would fit too, with competitor numbers as a bonus. Pallyy wouldn't, because it doesn't publish video on free.

### A local shop on Facebook and Instagram

Two networks, both Meta's. Meta Business Suite is the straightforward pick: it's free, it schedules both, and its inbox puts Messenger and Instagram messages in one place. A third-party free plan only makes sense if you plan to add a non-Meta network soon.

### A consultant on LinkedIn and X

This is where free plans get awkward. Metricool's free plan excludes both networks and Publer's excludes X. Buffer's free plan covers both. Or use LinkedIn's own scheduler for LinkedIn and Buffer for X.

### A freelancer managing six client accounts

Six accounts is past every free plan here. Running two free accounts with the same tool to get around a limit may break that tool's terms, so check before you try it. At this size you're comparing paid plans by price per account: 6 Buffer Essentials channels start at $30 a month, PostMesh Creator is $29 a month for up to 10 accounts, and Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user a month.

1. **List your accounts by network**: Write down every profile, Page and channel you post to. Each one usually counts as one account or channel.
2. **Count a normal month of posts**: Use last month as the baseline. A free plan with 10 queued posts per account behaves differently from one with 20 posts a month in total.
3. **Mark the network you can't lose**: LinkedIn rules out Metricool's free plan, X rules out Publer's, and video rules out Pallyy's.
4. **Decide whether you need replies in one place**: If yes, Buffer's free plan or Meta Business Suite are the only free options here with an inbox.
5. **Test with one week of real posts**: Schedule a normal week before you move everything. Check that each post went out as expected on each network.

## How do I move off Hootsuite without losing scheduled posts?

Moving is mostly about not leaving a gap. Free plans cap the queue, so you can't always paste in a whole month at once. Plan the switch around that.

1. **Export or list what's scheduled**: Note every scheduled post in Hootsuite with its text, media, accounts and time. Save the media files, because they won't move on their own.
2. **Connect your accounts to the new tool**: Use each network's official sign-in. A legitimate tool never needs your social media password.
3. **Schedule the next one or two weeks first**: With a 10-post queue per channel, load the nearest posts first and add more as they publish.
4. **Check each post against the network's limits**: Paste captions into our [post checker](/tools/post-checker) to catch anything over a network's character limit before it fails.
5. **Let one post go out on each network**: Confirm it appeared, with the right media and link, before you trust the rest of the queue.
6. **Cancel Hootsuite last**: Only once the new queue covers the next few days, so nothing is missed in between.

**Before you cancel Hootsuite**
- [ ] Every scheduled post is copied, with its media saved locally
- [ ] All accounts are connected in the new tool
- [ ] The next 7 days are scheduled
- [ ] One test post has published on each network
- [ ] You know where replies will be answered now
- [ ] Any reports you need are downloaded

The fifth item is the one people forget. If Hootsuite's inbox was where you answered comments, decide where that happens now: Buffer's community inbox, Meta Business Suite, or each network's own app. If you're changing tools partly to post to more networks at once, our guide to [cross-posting to multiple platforms](/blog/how-to-cross-post-to-multiple-platforms) covers how to adapt one post per network.

## What happens when I outgrow a free plan?

Usually one of three limits gives first: accounts, posts, or users. When it does, the cheapest next step depends on how the tool charges. This is what 10 accounts cost on each tool's lowest paid plan that covers them, from the pages we checked:

| Tool | Lowest plan for 10 accounts | Monthly cost | Charged by |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Buffer | Essentials, 10 channels | From $50 | Channel |
| PostMesh | Creator | $29 ($22 billed yearly) | Plan |
| Postiz (cloud) | Team, 10 channels | $39 ($31 billed yearly) | Plan |
| SocialBee | Accelerate, 10 profiles | $49 ($40 billed yearly) | Plan |
| Agorapulse | Standard, 10 profiles | $99 per user ($79 billed annually) | User |
| Hootsuite | Standard, 10 accounts | $99 per user, billed annually | User |

Per-channel pricing is cheapest when you have few accounts, and per-user pricing gets expensive as a team grows. A flat plan sits in between. The right answer depends on whether you're adding accounts, people or features. For a wider comparison of free tiers, including tools not covered here, see [the best free social media schedulers](/blog/best-free-social-media-schedulers).

## What to do next

- If you only post to Facebook and Instagram, set up Meta Business Suite first. It's free and may be all you need.
- If you post to three accounts, try Buffer's or Publer's free plan for one week of real posts.
- If you need LinkedIn, use LinkedIn's own scheduler alongside a free plan, or pick Buffer's free plan, which includes it.
- If you have more than three accounts, compare paid plans by what you're charged for, accounts, channels or users, at the size you'll be in six months.
- If you need an inbox, listening or approvals across networks, trial Hootsuite, Agorapulse or Sprout Social side by side before you pay.
- Whatever you choose, keep each caption inside every network's limits. Our [character limits guide](/blog/social-media-character-limits) lists them in one table.

## Questions

### Is there a free version of Hootsuite?

No. Hootsuite's plans page lists only paid plans, with a free 14-day trial on Standard, Professional and Advanced. During the trial, posting is capped at 10 to 20 posts a day per organization.

### What's the closest free match to Hootsuite?

For Facebook and Instagram only, Meta Business Suite, because it schedules, has an inbox and shows insights at no cost. Across many networks, Buffer's free plan comes closest, with scheduling and a community inbox for 3 channels.

### Which free scheduler allows the most accounts?

Buffer and Publer both allow 3 on their free plans. Zoho Social's free plan connects 6 channels, but its pricing page lists content scheduling under the paid Standard plan.

### Can I schedule to LinkedIn for free?

Yes. LinkedIn's own composer schedules posts between 10 minutes and 3 months ahead, and Buffer's free plan includes LinkedIn. Metricool's free plan doesn't.

### Can I schedule to X for free?

Buffer's pricing page doesn't exclude any network from its free plan, so X can be one of your 3 channels. Publer and Metricool exclude X from their free plans.

### Does Agorapulse still have a free plan?

No. Its help center says the Free plan stopped being available on July 6, 2026. It now offers a 30-day free trial with no card.

### Is PostMesh free?

No. PostMesh has a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, then plans start at $29 a month for 10 accounts with unlimited publishing.

### Does PostMesh have an inbox like Hootsuite?

No. PostMesh publishes and shows likes and comments on posts sent from it on supported networks, but you reply in each network's app. If you need one inbox, Hootsuite, Buffer or Meta Business Suite have one.

### Is a self-hosted scheduler really free?

The software can be. Postiz's open-source edition is AGPL-3.0 licensed and its README says you pay only for your own infrastructure, but you also handle hosting, updates and backups.

### Will a free plan's post limit stop my posts from publishing?

It stops you adding more to the queue, not posts already scheduled. On Buffer and Publer the limit is how many posts can wait in the queue, so slots free up as posts go out.
