TikTok pays creators through its own programs: the Creator Rewards Program, LIVE Gifts, Video Gifts, Subscription, Series, TikTok One brand deals, TikTok Shop affiliate commissions and, in some countries, Tips. The Creator Rewards Program needs you to be 18 or older with 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and TikTok publishes no fixed pay rate for any of them.

There's no single way to make money on TikTok. There are about eight, each with its own age, follower and country rules, and most of them pay in different ways: some per view, some through virtual Gifts, some through sales or brand fees. This guide goes through every program TikTok documents, using TikTok's Help Center, Creator Academy, Business Help Center and TikTok Shop pages. All eligibility numbers below are as those pages read on October 31, 2026. TikTok's pages note that requirements can change, and many programs are only offered in some countries, so check the Monetization section of TikTok Studio for what applies to your account.

One thing this guide won't do is promise you an income. TikTok doesn't publish rates for any of its programs, and earnings depend on your content, your audience and where they are. Where outside estimates exist, we point you to them with their sources.

## The short answer

If you're 18 or older, the program most people mean is the Creator Rewards Program, which pays for qualified views on original videos over a minute long. Below 10,000 followers, your main options are LIVE Gifts once you can go LIVE, TikTok One brand projects, and TikTok Shop affiliate commissions. Here's every program side by side:

| Program | Who can join (as of October 31, 2026) | How the money works |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Creator Rewards Program | 18+ (19 in South Korea), 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, a Personal Account, an eligible country | Rewards on qualified For You views of original videos over 1 minute, paid monthly once you reach $10 |
| LIVE Gifts | 18+ (19 in South Korea), able to go LIVE (1,000 followers, which may vary by region), an eligible location | Viewers send virtual Gifts and TikTok awards you Diamonds based on your LIVE's popularity |
| Video Gifts | 18+ (19 in South Korea), 10,000 followers, an account at least 30 days old, a public video in the last 30 days, a Personal Account | Viewers send Gifts in your comments and you're awarded Diamonds |
| Subscription | 18+, 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the past calendar month, or LIVE eligibility (TikTok, 2024) | Subscribers pay you a monthly fee for perks you choose |
| Series | 18+ (19 in South Korea), 10,000 followers, 1,000 views and 3 public posts in the last 30 days | Viewers pay $0.99 to $189.99 to access a collection of videos, paid monthly once you reach $50 |
| TikTok One | 18+, in a country where it has launched. Projects need 1,000+ followers | Brands pay a flat fee or a revenue share per project |
| TikTok Shop affiliate | US: 18+, 1,000+ followers, pass an account risk evaluation. UK: 500 followers | Commission on products sold through your videos and LIVEs |
| Tips | Select countries only. The terms list 18+, 100,000 followers and a Stripe account | Viewers tip you directly and the whole tip goes to you |

## What do you need before TikTok will pay you?

A few rules repeat across almost every program. Sorting them out first saves you applying for something you can't get yet.

### You need to be 18

Every program in the table above requires you to be at least 18, and the Creator Rewards Program, Gifts and Series require 19 in South Korea. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program page says age eligibility is based on the birthdate you entered when you created your account or confirmed while applying, and the program also requires authentic account information such as your real name and date of birth. For LIVE, TikTok's [age requirements page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/safety-hc/account-and-user-safety/age-requirements-for-tiktok-live) says it may ask you to confirm your age before you go LIVE. Depending on your location, the options are photos of a government ID plus selfies, a selfie with ID through a partner called Incode, a small temporary credit card authorization that's refunded, or facial age estimation from a selfie.

### Your account type matters

TikTok's [account types page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/growing-your-audience/switching-to-a-creator-or-business-account) describes General TikTok Accounts, also called Personal Accounts, as the choice for content creators, and lists monetization programs among their features. The Creator Rewards Program and Video Gifts require a Personal Account, and Business Accounts aren't eligible. Series is the exception: it accepts public Personal or Business Accounts. Political and government accounts are excluded from the Creator Rewards Program, and government, politician and political party accounts can't receive Video Gifts or collect Diamonds through LIVE Gifts.

### Your country has to be covered

TikTok's page on [how Creator Rewards work](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/creator-rewards-program/how-rewards-work) links program terms for Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the UK and the US. LIVE and Gift features aren't available everywhere, Video Gifts isn't available everywhere, TikTok One requires that it has launched in your country, and Tips is offered only in selected countries.

### Your account has to be in good standing

Every program requires an account that follows TikTok's Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. For the Creator Rewards Program, that means no history of repeated or irresponsible violations and no malicious or fraudulent activity, such as buying views or inflating follower counts.

### Where to check what you qualify for

Most programs live in TikTok Studio: tap Profile, then the Menu button, then TikTok Studio. TikTok's [Creator Academy overview of monetization](https://www.tiktok.com/creator-academy/en/article/monetization-offerings-overview), last updated October 17, 2026, tells creators to head to TikTok Studio to check their status. Series and Video Gifts sit in its Monetization section.

**Before you apply to any program**

## How does the TikTok Creator Rewards Program work?

The Creator Rewards Program is TikTok's main way of paying for views. TikTok's [program page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7581821550694013452) says it rewards eligible creators based on how videos that meet its requirements perform, calculated from qualified views and the rewards per 1,000 qualified views, which TikTok calls RPM. Creators keep collecting as long as they're in the program and their videos keep performing.

### Who can join the Creator Rewards Program

As of October 31, 2026, TikTok lists these requirements to join and collect rewards:

- Be based in a country where the program is available.
- Have an account in good standing, with no history of repeatedly or irresponsibly violating the Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, and no malicious or fraudulent activity.
- Have a Personal Account. Business Accounts and accounts of political or government organizations aren't eligible.
- Have authentic account information, such as your real name and date of birth.
- Be at least 18 years old (19 in South Korea).
- Have at least 10,000 followers.
- Have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
- Post original content that's eligible for rewards, in videos at least one minute long.

### Which videos earn rewards

Being in the program doesn't mean every video earns. Each video has to be original and high quality, filmed, designed and produced entirely by you, at least one minute long, uploaded after you joined, and it needs at least 1,000 qualified For You feed views. It must not contain ads, paid promotions, sponsored content or a link to a Series, and it can't contain copied account details or content, disinformation, or inappropriate or disturbing material. TikTok also says videos made for TikTok One aren't eligible.

### What TikTok counts as original

TikTok defines original content as content designed, filmed and produced by you that shows your expertise, talent or creativity. It lists what doesn't count, including but not limited to:

- Duet or Stitch videos.
- Content copied from others, including content with someone else's watermark.
- Content reproduced with only slight changes, such as speeding it up or adding filters, fixed text or stickers.
- Compilations of videos or pictures from other people or sources without new, personal ideas.
- Looping videos, single or multiple photos, or videos that are only text overlays.
- Lip syncs, or copyrighted music that plays for over one minute. TikTok says videos with copyrighted music over a minute are at risk of being muted.

### What counts as a qualified view

Qualified views are unique views from the For You feed. TikTok excludes fraudulent views, paid views, disliked views, views shorter than 5 seconds, promoted views and artificial views. Views from the same account count once per video, and views from people who said they're not interested don't count. A video starts collecting rewards once it reaches 1,000 qualified For You views. If the For You feed itself is new to you, our [glossary entry on the FYP](/glossary/fyp) explains it.

### How rewards are calculated

Rewards have two parts. The Standard Reward comes from your qualified views and your RPM. The Additional Reward depends on how well-crafted, engaging and specialized a video is. TikTok's how-rewards-work page lists what feeds into RPM:

- Video performance: your average watch time and finish rates.
- Search value: how much search traffic your content generates, including views on the search page.
- Location: where you're based and where your video is viewed.
- Video engagement: how many viewers engage with your content.
- Advertising value: your viewers' ad watch time on TikTok.

For the Additional Reward, TikTok describes well-crafted videos as produced in 1080p or higher, with clear visuals and polished editing, and over a minute long. Engaging means content that resonates with viewers, and specialized means focusing on a specific theme or area of expertise. The program dashboard has an Additional Reward detail page with performance analysis and tips.

### How to apply

TikTok: Profile › Menu › TikTok Studio › Creator Rewards Program

*TikTok says you'll get a reply within about 3 days of applying.*

If you're not accepted and believe you're eligible, you can appeal within 30 days, or re-apply 30 days after the appeal period ends.

### How and when you get paid

Estimated rewards appear on your Creator Rewards Program dashboard about 1 to 3 days after the views come in. Each month's rewards are calculated the following month, and if the payable amount is at least $10 (or the local equivalent), TikTok pays it on the 15th, automatically, to your payout account. You'll get an inbox notification, and the history lives under Profile › Menu › Balance › Transactions. TikTok says estimates can change because of payment processing fees and other adjustments, and the amount received on the 15th is your final monthly reward.

- Views come in: An eligible video starts collecting after 1,000 qualified For You views
- 1 to 3 days later: Estimated rewards show on your Creator Rewards Program dashboard
- The following month: That month's rewards are calculated
- The 15th: Paid to your payout account if the total is at least $10
- Usually within 72 hours: PayPal payments are processed. Bank transfers can take up to 15 days

*From TikTok's how-rewards-work page.*

Before your first payment, you'll set up a payout account, which may include tax information. TikTok says PayPal is currently the only payment method for creators in the US, South Korea, Brazil, the UK, France and Germany, while creators in Japan can choose Payoneer or bank transfer. VAT-registered creators need to issue VAT invoices, which TikTok can do automatically if you accept its self-billing agreement. If a payout is held for missing compliance information, provide it within 72 hours to restart processing. If a payment still hasn't arrived after 15 business days, TikTok asks you to report it through Need more help with screenshots. To change your payment method, go to Balance › Others › Monthly earnings › Payout setup › Payment method. TikTok notes that some locations limit how many times you can change it.

### Reviews, removals and appeals

TikTok reviews accounts in the program periodically. If your account or a video fails review, you'll be told why, the video won't collect rewards, and rewards it already collected are deducted from your balance. A video that passed review can still be removed later if it's reported or flagged, with the same deduction. Every flag and disqualification can be appealed within 30 days of the notice, and TikTok says a video appeal doesn't affect your account. To appeal, go to Profile › Menu › TikTok Studio › Creator Rewards Program, then tap Appeal for an account decision, or tap the ineligible video and then Appeal. You can also appeal from the inbox notification. The review takes about 3 days. Serious breaches, such as fake views or tampering with the reward or recommendation systems, can remove you from the program temporarily or permanently.

## How much does TikTok pay creators?

TikTok doesn't say. It explains how rewards are calculated but publishes no RPM figure for the Creator Rewards Program, no Diamond value for Gifts, and no typical commission for TikTok Shop. Any number you see comes from outside TikTok, usually from creators reporting their own results. [How much TikTok pays for 1 million views](/blog/how-much-does-tiktok-pay-for-1-million-views) collects the published estimates with their sources and works through the math, and it's the place to start if you want a rough figure.

What you can control is whether a video is eligible at all. These examples show how TikTok's rules apply to typical videos from an account that's already in the program:

| Video | Does it earn Creator Rewards? |
| --- | --- |
| 45 seconds long with 50,000 views | No. Videos must be at least one minute long. |
| 3 minutes long, posted the week before you were accepted | No. Only videos posted after you join can collect rewards. |
| A 2-minute Duet with another creator | No. Duets and Stitches don't count as original. |
| A 90-second sponsored video for a brand | No. Ads, paid promotions and sponsored content are excluded. |
| A 2-minute slideshow of photos with text | No. Photos and text-only videos aren't original under the program. |
| 2 minutes, original, with 800 qualified For You views | Not yet. It starts collecting at 1,000 qualified views. |
| 2 minutes, original, with most views from search | Only its For You views count as qualified, though TikTok says search traffic feeds into RPM. |
| 2 minutes, original, filmed in 1080p, posted after joining, 5,000 qualified views | Yes. It collects the Standard Reward and may earn the Additional Reward. |

If you also post to YouTube, its Partner Program has its own thresholds and payment schedule. [When YouTube starts paying you](/blog/when-does-youtube-start-paying-you) and [how much YouTube pays per 1,000 views](/blog/how-much-does-youtube-pay-per-1000-views) cover that side.

## How do you make money from TikTok LIVE?

LIVE is one of the earliest paid options, because it opens at 1,000 followers. TikTok's [LIVE page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7543604790438451768) says you must be at least 18 to go LIVE, at least 18 (19 in South Korea) to send or receive Gifts, and have 1,000 followers, a number that may vary across regions. It also notes that LIVE and Gift features aren't available everywhere.

### How LIVE Gifts work

Once LIVE Gifts is on, viewers can send virtual Gifts that pop up on screen. TikTok's [LIVE Gifts page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7543897462415579704) says it awards you Diamonds based on the popularity of your LIVE, and your LIVE summary shows how many you collected. To be eligible, you need to live in a location where LIVE Gifts is available, be 18 or older (19 in South Korea), be eligible to go LIVE, and have an account in good standing. Government, politician, political party and other public interest accounts can't collect Diamonds through LIVE Gifts.

1. **Open the LIVE screen**: Tap the Add post button at the bottom, then tap LIVE. You may need to scroll across to find it.
2. **Open Settings**: On the LIVE screen, tap Settings.
3. **Turn on LIVE Gifts**: Turn the LIVE Gifts setting on.
4. **Go LIVE**: Make any other changes, then tap Go LIVE.

### What Diamonds are, and what they aren't

Diamonds aren't money. TikTok's US [Virtual Items Policy](https://www.tiktok.com/legal/virtual-items) says virtual items, including Coins, Gifts and Diamonds, can't be exchanged for cash or used as currency. It describes Diamonds as TikTok's measure of a user's popularity and ranking, and says that popularity is one of several factors TikTok uses to decide the Rewards it may give under the applicable Rewards Program terms. Diamonds don't automatically entitle you to a Reward payment, and TikTok can reduce your Diamonds if it believes your popularity was influenced by breaking its rules. TikTok's [Diamonds page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/video-gifts-on-tiktok/diamonds) says that once you collect Diamonds you may be eligible for rewards. To see your balance, go to Profile › Menu › Balance › LIVE rewards.

### Fan Clubs

TikTok's [LIVE Fan Club page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/live-gifts-wallet/tiktok-live/live-fan-club) describes Fan Clubs as a way for fans to support LIVE creators' popularity. Viewers join by sending a Heart Me Gift during your LIVE. Members earn points by watching, commenting and sending Gifts, and move up levels to get perks such as your exclusive chat room, special Gifts, member badges and entrance spotlights. A member's status pauses if they don't earn points within 7 days of you going LIVE.

### Keeping a LIVE safe

A busy LIVE needs moderation. You can add moderators, filter comments, block keywords, and mute or block viewers from the stream. [How to block someone on TikTok](/blog/how-to-block-someone-on-tiktok) walks through the LIVE moderation tools, including the one difference that catches people out: a viewer you block during a LIVE is told.

## How do Video Gifts work?

Video Gifts bring the LIVE Gifts idea to regular posts: viewers send Gifts in your comments and you're awarded Diamonds. TikTok's [Video Gifts page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/video-gifts-on-tiktok/video-gifts-on-tiktok) lists these requirements as of October 31, 2026:

- Live in a location where Video Gifts is available. It isn't available everywhere.
- Be 18 or older (19 in South Korea).
- Have at least 10,000 followers and an account at least 30 days old.
- Have published a public video in the last 30 days.
- Have an account in good standing.
- Have a Personal Account. Business, government, politician, political party and other public interest accounts can't receive Gifts on their content.

Duets, Stitches, ads, sponsored content, promoted posts and videos that break the Community Guidelines can't receive Video Gifts. To turn them on, go to Profile › Menu › TikTok Studio, tap Video Gifts in the Monetization section, turn on Gifts, review the requirements and tap Turn on Gifts. The same switch turns them off.

## How does TikTok Subscription work?

Subscription lets your most engaged followers pay a monthly fee for extra access. It started as LIVE Subscription, and TikTok's newsroom announced its expansion to non-LIVE creators in a [post on September 23, 2024](https://newsroom.tiktok.com/en-us/empowering-creators-and-fostering-communities-with-the-expanded-subscription-feature). According to that post, creators can offer three tiers and choose from benefits such as:

- Private communication channels: a Sub Space, chats, comments and messages for subscribers.
- Exclusive content: videos, LIVEs and notes only subscribers can see.
- Community identifiers: special stickers for LIVEs and badges next to subscribers' names.
- Perks: ready-made options such as performance requests, Discord roles, shoutouts and LIVE topics, or custom perks you design.

The same post says creators must be 18 or older and have an account in good standing with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the past calendar month, or meet specific LIVE eligibility requirements. That's TikTok's most recent public statement of the Subscription rules we found, and it's from 2024, so treat TikTok Studio as the final word. TikTok's Creator Academy overview, updated October 2026, still lists Subscription as a current program.

## How do you sell a Series on TikTok?

Series is TikTok's paywall. TikTok's [Series page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/tiktok-series/about-tiktok-series) describes it as a collection of premium content that viewers pay to access, through links in your videos or your profile. A Series can hold up to 80 videos, each 30 seconds to 20 minutes long.

### Who can sell a Series

- Be 18 or older (19 in South Korea).
- Have an account at least 30 days old.
- Have a public Personal or Business Account. Political and private accounts aren't eligible.
- Post 3 or more public posts in the last 30 days.
- Have 10,000 or more followers.
- Reach 1,000 or more views in the last 30 days.
- Post original content, with an account in good standing.

There's a route in below 10,000 followers: TikTok says creators who meet every other requirement can apply with a link to premium content they've already sold on another platform. To apply, go to Profile › Menu › TikTok Studio › Series, or visit tiktok.com/series on a computer and click Continue.

### Pricing and payouts

TikTok's [Series payments page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/tiktok-series/payments-on-series) says you pick a price from a menu running from $0.99 to $189.99, and you can't change it once the Series is posted. You can add a limited-time discount when you create it. Payouts are based on how many people buy access. On the first day of each month you get a notification with the previous month's payouts, and once the total reaches $50 (or the local equivalent), TikTok sends it on the 15th. Before your first payment you'll link a PayPal account, complete a tax form and verify your identity. TikTok warns that skipping these can mean mandatory withholding and losing eligibility. New Series are reviewed against the Community Guidelines, which TikTok's [page on creating a Series](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/tiktok-series/create-and-manage-series) says can take up to 72 hours.

## How do brand deals work on TikTok One?

TikTok One is TikTok's platform for paid brand work. The Creator Academy overview says it combines TikTok Creative Challenge and TikTok Creator Marketplace, and lets creators join campaigns to make ads posted on their own profile, the brand's profile, or delivered as ads. TikTok's Business Help Center page [About TikTok One for creators](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/about-tiktok-one-for-creators?lang=en) lists three requirements: TikTok One has launched in your country or region, you're at least 18, and you meet the Community Guidelines and Branded Content Policy.

### Signing up

TikTok's [sign-up page](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/how-creators-can-sign-up-for-tiktok-one?lang=en) lists several entrances: search "TikTok One" in the TikTok app and tap the TikTok One Creator Marketplace, or go to Profile › TikTok Studio › Creator Marketplace, or join through an agency's invitation link. Once you're registered you can add starting rates, contact information, languages and industries to your profile. To take part in projects, TikTok says you need at least 1,000 followers plus other requirements that vary by project.

### Joining projects

TikTok's [projects page](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/how-creators-can-find-and-join-tiktok-one-projects?lang=en) describes three ways in:

- Direct invitation: a brand invites you. Look under Inbox › Monetization notifications, review the project, tap I'm interested, then Accept the payment details or Negotiate.
- Open application: you apply to an open project from System notifications and the Explore tab. The advertiser or TikTok decides, and some creators are accepted automatically.
- Invite link: you approve an existing video for a project. You have 7 days to respond before the invitation expires, and this route uses offline payment rather than in-app pricing.

TikTok limits how many applications you can submit each week, and says you can raise the limit by completing projects with well-performing videos. Payment comes as a flat fee or a revenue share, depending on the project. For invite-link projects, TikTok says payment is sent after you submit the video and the brand confirms it.

### Labeling paid content

Any post that promotes a brand, product or service needs TikTok's content disclosure setting, whether it's your own business or a third-party brand paying you or giving you another incentive. TikTok's [page on promoting a brand](https://support.tiktok.com/en/business-and-creator/creator-and-business-accounts/promoting-a-brand-product-or-service) says posts are then labeled Promotional content (your own brand) or Paid partnership (another business's), that the label can't be changed after posting, and that turning it on doesn't affect how your post is distributed. Without proper disclosure, TikTok may remove or restrict the post. On the Post screen, tap Content disclosure and ads (or More options, then Content disclosure and ads), turn on Disclose commercial content, choose Your brand or Branded content, optionally tag the Brand Partner, then Save and Continue. LIVEs have their own Content disclosure switch in LIVE settings.

### Spotting fake brand offers

TikTok's projects page gives its own checklist before clicking an invite link: confirm the sender is a known brand contact or uses an official company email, check that the link domain starts with tiktok.com, make sure the message includes the project name, requirements and deadline, and never enter bank passwords, full card details or one-time passwords on an invite page. If a page asks for that, stop and report it.

## How does TikTok Shop affiliate work?

TikTok Shop lets creators earn commission by featuring products in shoppable videos and LIVEs. TikTok Shop's [US creator page](https://business.tiktokshop.com/us/creator) lists four requirements: meet the Community Guidelines, be at least 18, have 1,000 or more followers, and pass an account risk evaluation. The [UK creator page](https://business.tiktokshop.com/uk/creator) asks for a minimum of 500 followers instead. Requirements are set per country, so check the page for yours.

Once you're in, the creator page says you can browse a product marketplace for items to promote, join creator campaigns, accept collab invites from brands, and request samples. The Creator Academy overview adds that you can set up a Storefront with product catalogs and collect affiliate earnings from products sold through your account. TikTok's [TikTok Shop help page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/tiktok-shop) notes that Shop only works in the TikTok app and buyers must be 18 or older. Neither page we read gives a standard commission rate.

## What about Tips and other ways to earn?

### Tips

Tips let viewers send you money directly. TikTok's [Tips terms](https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/global/tip-terms/en) say the feature is available only in selected countries, TikTok charges no fees and doesn't process the payment, and Stripe handles it. The entire tip goes to the creator, with Stripe's processing fees charged to the sender separately, and senders can't get a refund. To apply, the terms list a personal account in good standing, being at least 18, having at least 100,000 followers, having a Stripe account, and being a member of Creator Next.

### Programs for specific kinds of creators

TikTok's Creator Academy overview lists a few more. Work With Artists runs campaigns featuring new songs and rewards creators for their content's performance, with guaranteed reward programs for frequent participants. Effect House pays effect creators through several programs. The Academy also describes post contests with rewards. And TikTok's [monetization help page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/growing-your-audience/how-can-creators-earn-on-tiktok) mentions the donation sticker for fundraising.

## Can you earn from more than one program at once?

Yes. TikTok's how-rewards-work page says creators in the Creator Rewards Program can take part in other monetization programs and features, and encourages them to explore brand opportunities. The catch is that some videos can only earn one way. Here's how common video types fare:

| Video type | Creator Rewards | Video Gifts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Original, over a minute, posted after you joined | Yes | Yes |
| Duet or Stitch | No | No |
| Ad, sponsored or promoted post | No | No |
| Made for a TikTok One project | No | Not stated |
| Linked to a Series | No | Not stated |
| Under a minute | No | Length isn't listed as a rule |

In practice that means planning which videos serve which purpose. A sponsored video earns through the brand deal, not the Creator Rewards Program. A short clip can still drive followers and Gifts even though it won't collect rewards. Series content sits behind the paywall, so it earns from sales.

## Why am I not making money on TikTok?

If you're in a program and your balance isn't moving, work down this list. Most causes come straight from TikTok's eligibility rules:

| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A popular video earns nothing | It's under a minute, or it was posted before you joined | Post new original videos over a minute long |
| A new video earns nothing | It hasn't reached 1,000 qualified For You views | Wait, and check the dashboard 1 to 3 days after views come in |
| Views are high but rewards are low | Only For You views count, and RPM depends on watch time, search, location, engagement and ad value | Look at retention and finish rates in Analytics |
| A video was flagged as ineligible | TikTok judged it unoriginal or against the rules | Appeal within 30 days from the dashboard |
| Your balance went down | Rewards from removed videos are deducted, and estimates shift for fees and adjustments | Check notifications for removed videos |

If the underlying problem is reach, no program setting fixes it. [Why is my TikTok not getting views](/blog/why-is-my-tiktok-not-getting-views) covers the causes TikTok documents. To see where viewers drop off, open Analytics in TikTok Studio, and [how to see who viewed your TikTok](/blog/how-to-see-who-viewed-your-tiktok) explains what each Analytics tab shows.

## What to do next, by where you are now

### Under 1,000 followers

Nothing in TikTok's own programs pays yet, so this stage is about building the audience. Post original videos regularly, and make some of them over a minute long so they're ready to earn later. Check your numbers in Analytics, post when your viewers are active using [the best time to post on TikTok](/blog/best-time-to-post-on-tiktok), and write clear captions and bios. The [TikTok caption generator](/tools/tiktok-caption-generator), [hashtag generator](/tools/tiktok-hashtag-generator) and [bio generator](/tools/tiktok-bio-generator) can help with the writing.

### 1,000 to 9,999 followers

If you're 18 or older, try LIVE with Gifts turned on, sign up for TikTok One to see which brand projects you qualify for, and, in the US, apply to TikTok Shop if product content suits you. Keep an eye on your engagement, since brands look at it: the [engagement rate calculator](/tools/engagement-rate-calculator) and our guide to [social media engagement rate](/blog/social-media-engagement-rate) explain how it's measured.

### 10,000 followers and up

Once you also have 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, apply to the Creator Rewards Program from TikTok Studio, and look at Video Gifts, Series and Subscription. Several of these reward steady posting directly: Video Gifts needs a public video in the last 30 days, and Series needs 3 public posts in the last 30 days.

**Habits that keep you eligible**
- [ ] Post original videos over a minute long
- [ ] Film in 1080p or higher
- [ ] Keep at least one public post every 30 days
- [ ] Turn on content disclosure for any paid or promotional post
- [ ] Never buy views, followers or engagement
- [ ] Check TikTok Studio's Monetization section each month

*Each item maps to a requirement on TikTok's program pages.*

If posting on a steady schedule is the hard part, [PostMesh](/platform/tiktok) can schedule TikTok videos and photo posts up to 30 days ahead through TikTok's official Content Posting API. It accepts videos from 3 seconds to 10 minutes, so minute-plus Creator Rewards videos fit, and it asks for the brand content disclosure on every post. The [TikTok scheduling guide](/blog/how-to-schedule-tiktok-videos) covers the details. If you post the same video to other networks too, [does cross-posting hurt engagement](/blog/does-cross-posting-hurt-engagement) looks at what the evidence says, and remember that TikTok's originality rules apply to what you post on TikTok.

## Questions

### How many followers do you need to make money on TikTok?

It depends on the program. LIVE needs 1,000 followers (this may vary by region), as do TikTok One projects and US TikTok Shop affiliate. The Creator Rewards Program, Video Gifts and Series need 10,000.

### How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?

TikTok doesn't publish a rate. Creator Rewards are based on qualified views and an RPM that depends on watch time, search value, location, engagement and ad value.

### Can you make money on TikTok if you're under 18?

Not through TikTok's own programs. The Creator Rewards Program, Gifts, Series, TikTok One, TikTok Shop and Tips all require you to be at least 18, or 19 in South Korea for several of them.

### Do videos under a minute earn money on TikTok?

Not from the Creator Rewards Program, which requires videos of at least one minute. The Video Gifts page doesn't list a minimum length.

### When does TikTok pay Creator Rewards?

On the 15th of the month, for rewards calculated from the previous month, as long as the total is at least $10 or the local equivalent.

### Do my old videos start earning when I join the Creator Rewards Program?

No. TikTok says only eligible videos posted after you're approved can collect rewards.

### How long does it take to get into the Creator Rewards Program?

TikTok says you'll get a reply within about 3 days of applying. If you're turned down, you can appeal within 30 days.

### Can I turn TikTok Diamonds into cash?

TikTok's Virtual Items Policy says virtual items, including Diamonds, can't be exchanged for cash. Diamonds measure popularity, which is one factor in the Rewards TikTok may give.

### Can a TikTok Business Account make money?

Not through the Creator Rewards Program or Video Gifts, which require a Personal Account. Series accepts public Business Accounts.

### Do I have to label sponsored TikToks?

Yes. TikTok requires the content disclosure setting on any post that promotes a brand, product or service, and it may remove or restrict posts without it.
