On a computer, upload your video on tiktok.com, turn on the schedule toggle, pick a date and time and click Schedule. TikTok's own pages give windows from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, and up to 30 days in a newer guide, and a scheduled TikTok can't be edited, only deleted and scheduled again. A scheduler such as PostMesh posts through TikTok's official API up to 30 days ahead.

TikTok has had its own scheduler since 2021, first on the website and later inside the app for some kinds of post. Third-party schedulers post through TikTok's Content Posting API, which comes with its own rules about privacy settings, daily caps and drafts that land in your inbox. This guide covers each route from TikTok's own pages, the limits that catch people out, and what to do when a scheduled TikTok doesn't appear.

> The steps and limits below come from TikTok's own pages, cited from dated Wayback Machine copies listed in the sources. TikTok changes its upload screens often; if a button has moved, the goal of each step is the same.

## The short answer

If TikTok is your only network, use TikTok's own scheduler on tiktok.com, or in the app if your Advanced settings show Schedule post. Check how far ahead the date picker lets you go, because TikTok's pages give different windows. If the same video also goes to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, a scheduler lets you set all three in one sitting. Post by hand when you want TikTok's in-app sounds or effects: PostMesh can't use TikTok's music library, and TikTok's scheduling pages don't mention sounds at all.

**How should you schedule this TikTok?**
- From a computer, TikTok only → tiktok.com upload page: turn on the schedule toggle, pick a time, click Schedule.
- From your phone → In the app, More options, Advanced settings, Schedule post, where your account offers it.
- The same video on Reels and Shorts too → A scheduler such as PostMesh, which sends it to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube in one post.
- It needs a TikTok sound or in-app effect → Edit and post it in the TikTok app at the time you want.

## How do I schedule a TikTok on a computer?

TikTok announced its Video Scheduler on its business blog on July 16, 2021. It put the feature on the web upload page and said scheduled posts show up on both the web and app versions of TikTok. These are the steps from that announcement:

1. **Log in on the web**: Sign in to your account at tiktok.com in a browser and open the upload page. In 2021 that was the cloud icon at the top right of your feed.
2. **Upload and edit**: Upload the video, write the caption with any hashtags, edit the cover image, choose who can view it, and set whether people can comment on it or Duet it.
3. **Turn on scheduling**: Toggle the schedule button on, then pick a date and time. The time zone defaults to your computer's setting.
4. **Click Schedule**: The video is now queued. TikTok said you can see scheduled posts alongside drafts in the Profile view.
5. **Watch for the alert**: When the scheduled video goes live, TikTok sends you a push notification.

1. Sign in on tiktok.com and open the upload page
2. Upload the video and write the caption
3. Set the cover, who can view and comments
4. Toggle schedule on and pick a date and time
5. Click Schedule

### Which accounts can schedule on desktop?

The announcement describes the scheduler as a feature for creators and Business Accounts, and says you'll need a Business Account to use desktop scheduling. In 2021, TikTok said you could switch account types in Settings, then Account. If you don't see the schedule toggle on the upload page, your account type is the first thing to check.

### How far ahead can I schedule?

The 2021 announcement allowed anywhere from 15 minutes to 10 days before publishing. TikTok Shop's newer guide, archived in June 2026, describes scheduling from 30 minutes up to 30 days ahead. The two pages cover different releases and features, so trust the date picker you see: if it stops at 10 days, that's your limit. To plan further out, schedule the first batch now and put a reminder in your calendar to schedule the next, or use a scheduler with a longer window; PostMesh's is 30 days.

### What if the schedule toggle isn't there?

- Check your account type. The 2021 announcement tied desktop scheduling to Business Accounts.
- Use a computer. The 2021 scheduler lived on the web upload page, not in the app.
- Update the app and refresh the page, in case an older version is hiding the option.
- If none of that works, post by hand at the time you want, or use a scheduler that posts through TikTok's API.

## Can I schedule a TikTok in the app?

TikTok Shop Academy's page on [scheduling shoppable videos](https://seller-us.tiktok.com/university/essay?knowledge_id=1929072592013111) describes scheduling inside the app. It's written for TikTok Shop sellers and creators posting videos with product links, so other accounts may not see the same option. Where it appears, the steps are:

1. **Upload the video**: Start a post as usual and add your video.
2. **Open More options**: On the posting screen, tap More options.
3. **Go to Advanced settings**: Then tap Schedule post.
4. **Pick a date and time**: Anywhere from 30 minutes to 30 days ahead.
5. **Tap Schedule**: The video shows on your profile with a clock icon, visible only to you, until it goes live.

The same page lists the limits. An account can hold up to 50 scheduled videos at a time. A scheduled video must be public or limited visibility, so you can't schedule a private one. And a scheduled video doesn't appear publicly or in analytics until it goes live, which is why TikTok Shop tells sellers to double-check product links before they schedule.

### If you don't see Schedule post in the app

TikTok Shop's guide is written for shoppable videos, so the option may not appear for every account or every post. Update the app first. If it's still missing, schedule from tiktok.com on a computer, use a scheduler, or set a reminder and post by hand.

## How do I edit, reschedule or delete a scheduled TikTok?

You can't edit a scheduled TikTok in place. The 2021 announcement says that, as with regular posting, you can't change the video, the caption or the scheduled time after scheduling. TikTok Shop's guide says the same in 2026: scheduled posts can't be edited directly.

1. **Find the scheduled video**: On your profile it carries a clock icon. TikTok's 2021 page put scheduled posts alongside drafts.
2. **Preview it**: TikTok Shop's guide says you can preview a scheduled video before it goes live.
3. **Delete it**: Deleting a scheduled video moves it back to Drafts, per TikTok Shop's guide.
4. **Make your changes**: Open it from Drafts and fix the caption, cover or settings, or re-upload an edited video.
5. **Schedule it again**: Pick the new time and schedule it as before.

> The 2021 page says to delete and re-upload after making edits. The 2026 guide says deleting sends the video back to Drafts. If you don't find it in Drafts after deleting, keep a copy of the original file so you can upload it again.

## What are the limits of TikTok's scheduler?

| Question | What TikTok's pages say |
| --- | --- |
| How far ahead? | 15 minutes to 10 days on the web (2021). 30 minutes to 30 days for shoppable videos in the app (2026). |
| How many at once? | Up to 50 scheduled videos per account (2026 shoppable guide). |
| Who can see it before it posts? | Only you, with a clock icon on your profile. |
| Can I schedule a private video? | No. It must be public or limited visibility (2026 shoppable guide). |
| Can I edit it? | No. Delete it and schedule it again. |
| Which time zone? | Your computer's setting, by default (2021 web scheduler). |
| Will I know when it's live? | Yes, a push notification (2021 web scheduler). |
| Does it count in analytics before then? | No. Scheduled videos aren't in analytics until they go live. |

Neither page says what happens if a scheduled video fails to publish, or whether photo posts can be scheduled. Check your profile after the scheduled time, especially the first few times.

## How do third-party TikTok schedulers work?

Scheduling tools post through TikTok's Content Posting API. The tool stores your video and, at the time you picked, sends it to TikTok in one of two ways that TikTok's developer docs describe: Direct Post, which publishes to your profile, and Upload, which sends a draft to your TikTok inbox for you to finish in the app.

For real scheduling, Direct Post is the route that matters: the post goes live without you. With Upload, the tool delivers a draft and you still have to open TikTok and finish it, which is closer to a reminder than a schedule. Ask any tool which one it uses for your account.

### What TikTok requires of every tool

TikTok's [content sharing guidelines](https://developers.tiktok.com/doc/content-sharing-guidelines) for Direct Post set rules that any compliant scheduler has to follow. They explain why scheduling tools ask you the same questions on every post:

- Privacy has no default. You must pick who can watch from a dropdown each time, and the options come from your own account's settings.
- Comments, Duet and Stitch are offered only if your account allows them, and you set them for each post.
- Commercial content must be disclosed. A toggle for promoting yourself, a brand or both is off by default, and branded content can't be set to private.
- The tool must check the video's length against the maximum TikTok reports for your account, and stop if TikTok says you can't post more right now.
- You see a preview first, and the tool may not add its own watermark or logo to your video.

### Brand and paid partnership disclosures

The disclosure toggle in a scheduler isn't decoration. TikTok's guidelines describe two boxes under it: Your brand, for promoting yourself or your business, and Branded content, for promoting a third party. Choosing Branded content labels the post as a paid partnership, adds TikTok's Branded Content Policy to what you agree to before posting, and rules out private visibility. If the toggle is on, at least one box has to be ticked before the post can go. Set these the same way you would in the app, because they follow the post to TikTok.

### How to tell a tool follows TikTok's rules

Because those rules govern what the posting screen must show, you can check a tool in a minute. It should show the TikTok account it will post to by name, make you pick who can watch with nothing pre-selected, offer comments, Duet and Stitch only where your account allows them, include a commercial content toggle, show a preview, and ask you to agree to TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation before posting. If a tool posts to TikTok without asking who can watch, it isn't following TikTok's Direct Post guidelines.

### Daily caps and private-only apps

The same guidelines limit posts through Direct Post to a number that varies by creator, typically around 15 a day per account, shared across every app that uses it. An app TikTok hasn't audited is far more limited: up to 5 users can post in a 24-hour window, and everything it posts is restricted to private viewing. If a tool's posts always arrive as Only me, that's the likely reason. A tool whose posts can go public has passed TikTok's audit.

### Why a post can land in your inbox

TikTok's [Upload guide](https://developers.tiktok.com/doc/content-posting-api-get-started-upload-content) describes sending a video or photos to TikTok for you to review and post, and tells apps to let users know they must tap the inbox notification to continue editing in TikTok and complete the post. When a scheduler uses this route, or TikTok sends a post that way, the video waits in your inbox rather than going live. Open TikTok, tap the notification and post it.

### What TikTok expects you to post through a tool

TikTok's guidelines say apps using Direct Post should help authentic creators post original content, and give an example of what isn't acceptable: an app that copies arbitrary content from other platforms to TikTok. Scheduling your own videos is the intended use. Reposting other people's clips through a tool isn't.

## How do I schedule TikTok videos with PostMesh?

[PostMesh](/platform/tiktok) posts videos and photo sets to TikTok through TikTok's official Content Posting API, right away or at a time you pick up to 30 days ahead. TikTok's posting API has no scheduling setting of its own, so PostMesh holds the post and sends it at the time you chose, with no phone reminder to tap. You set who can watch and the comment, Duet, Stitch and disclosure settings on every post, as TikTok requires.

1. **Connect TikTok**: Sign in with TikTok and approve PostMesh. PostMesh never sees your password.
2. **Open New post**: Pick your TikTok account, plus any other networks you want the video on.
3. **Write the caption**: Up to 2,200 characters for a video. Give TikTok its own version if your other networks need different text.
4. **Set TikTok's options**: Choose who can watch, whether comments, Duet and Stitch are on, and any brand or AI-generated content disclosure.
5. **Add the video**: One MP4, MOV or WebM, 3 seconds to 10 minutes (or your account's own limit), up to 4 GB.
6. **Schedule**: Under When, choose Later and pick a time up to 30 days ahead.
7. **Check the result**: Posts shows whether TikTok accepted it. If it failed, Retry sends again only to the accounts that failed.

- While you write: PostMesh checks the caption length and the video's type, size and length for TikTok and every other network you picked
- When you schedule: The post is held in PostMesh's queue, up to 30 days ahead, with your privacy and disclosure choices
- Every minute: PostMesh checks the queue for posts that are due
- At the time you picked: PostMesh sends it to TikTok through the Content Posting API
- Now and then: TikTok sends the video to your inbox instead, for you to finish in the app
- Afterward: Posts shows the result, with Retry if it failed

### What can PostMesh post to TikTok?

| Content | PostMesh | Details |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Video | Yes | MP4, MOV or WebM, 3 seconds to 10 minutes or your account's limit, 360 to 4,096 pixels, 23 to 60 fps, up to 4 GB. Caption up to 2,200 characters. |
| Photo post | Yes, TikTok only | Up to 35 JPEG or WebP images, 20 MB each, with a title up to 90 characters and a description up to 4,000. |
| Settings | Yes, on every post | Who can watch, comments, Duet and Stitch, and brand and AI-generated content disclosures. |
| Stories | No | Post Stories in the TikTok app. |
| TikTok's music library | No | Put the audio in the video file before you upload it. |
| Photo posts to other networks | No | A multi-image photo post goes to TikTok on its own. |

The 10-minute ceiling is the most TikTok's posting API allows. TikTok tells PostMesh each account's own maximum, and it can be shorter, so a long video can pass on one account and not another. PostMesh sees your TikTok username, display name and profile photo, and never your password, your messages or videos you didn't send from it.

PostMesh has no free plan. Creator is $29 a month with 10 connected accounts, Growth is $49 with 50, and Pro is $99 with unlimited accounts, all with unlimited publishing. Yearly billing brings those to $22, $37 and $75 a month, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. See [pricing](/pricing).

### Changing or cancelling a scheduled TikTok in PostMesh

Cancel it in Posts or Calendar and schedule the new version. A post that has already started sending can't be cancelled. Unfinished posts can wait as drafts: Creator keeps up to 200, Growth 1,000 and Pro an unlimited number.

### Several TikTok accounts

Pick every TikTok account you want in New post, and each gets the video at the scheduled time. Each account counts toward your plan's connected-account limit: 10 on Creator, 50 on Growth and unlimited on Pro. Remember that TikTok's daily Direct Post cap applies to each account separately and is shared with any other apps posting to it.

## TikTok's scheduler, PostMesh or posting by hand?

Posting by hand means editing and posting in the TikTok app at the moment you want. It gives you everything TikTok offers, including its sound library and effects, but you have to be there.

| | TikTok's own scheduler | PostMesh | By hand |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Cost | Free | From $29 a month after a 7-day trial | Free |
| How far ahead | 10 days (2021 web) or 30 days (2026 shoppable guide) | Up to 30 days | Not applicable |
| Edit after scheduling | No: delete and schedule again | Cancel and schedule the new version | Not applicable |
| Private videos | Not in the 2026 guide | Yes, you pick who can watch | Yes |
| TikTok sounds and effects | Not stated on TikTok's scheduling pages | No | Yes |
| Photo posts | Not stated | Up to 35 images, TikTok only | Yes |
| Other networks in the same step | No | 5 other networks take the same video | No |
| You need to be there at post time | No | No, though TikTok occasionally sends a post to your inbox | Yes |

**TikTok's scheduler**
- Free, in TikTok itself
- 10 or 30 days ahead, depending on the version
- No edits once scheduled
- TikTok only

**PostMesh**
- Videos and photo posts, 30 days ahead
- Privacy and disclosures set on every post
- No TikTok sounds or Stories
- Videos also go to Reels, Shorts and more

**By hand**
- Every sound, effect and format
- Free
- You must be there at the time
- Easy to miss on a busy day

*Facts from TikTok's pages and PostMesh's TikTok page.*

If TikTok is your only network and your videos use trending sounds added in the app, schedule in TikTok or post by hand. If you edit your videos elsewhere with the audio already in the file, and the same video also goes to Reels and Shorts, a scheduler saves you uploading it three times.

## Why didn't my scheduled TikTok post?

Go through these in order. The first three are the most common with scheduling tools.

| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A notification in your TikTok inbox | TikTok sent it as a draft to finish in the app | Tap the notification and post it from TikTok |
| It posted, but only you can see it | Who can watch was set to private, or the app isn't audited | Change who can watch on the post in the TikTok app |
| Nothing posted from a tool | TikTok's daily cap for your account was reached, or the connection expired | Wait and retry later, or reconnect TikTok |
| It went out at the wrong hour | Your computer's time zone wasn't your audience's | Delete it and schedule it again at the right time |
| The schedule toggle is missing | Your account type or app version doesn't offer it | Check your account type, update the app, or use the web |
| The video was rejected | Wrong format, too long, too short or too large | Re-export within the limits below |

**Where is your scheduled TikTok?**
- Waiting as a notification in your TikTok inbox → Tap it and finish the post in the app. It won't go live until you do.
- On your profile, but only you can see it → Change who can watch on the post in the TikTok app.
- On your profile with a clock icon → It's still scheduled. Check the time and time zone you picked.
- Nowhere → Check the tool's result for an error, fix the file or reconnect TikTok, then retry.

*Based on TikTok's developer docs, TikTok Shop's scheduling guide and PostMesh's TikTok page.*

### The post landed in your inbox

This isn't a failure. TikTok sometimes asks you to finish a post in the app, and its developer docs describe exactly that flow: the app sends the video, you tap the inbox notification and complete the post in TikTok. Open TikTok, find the notification and post it. If it happens on a post timed for a launch, finish it straight away, because it won't go live until you do.

### TikTok said you can't post more right now

TikTok's guidelines tell apps to stop a post and ask you to try later when TikTok reports that your account can't make more posts at the moment. That usually means the daily Direct Post cap, shared by every app posting to your account, has been reached. Wait a few hours and retry, or post the video in the TikTok app.

### The time zone was wrong

TikTok's web scheduler uses your computer's time zone by default. If you scheduled while traveling, or your audience lives elsewhere, the post went out at the right time for the wrong place. Because a scheduled TikTok can't be edited, delete it and schedule it again. Next time, convert from your audience's local time before you pick.

### The media was rejected

Through PostMesh, a TikTok video has to be MP4, MOV or WebM, between 3 seconds and 10 minutes or your account's own limit, 360 to 4,096 pixels on each side, 23 to 60 frames per second and under 4 GB. Photo posts take JPEG or WebP up to 20 MB each. Re-export the file to match, and if the video is longer than your account allows, trim it or post it in the app. PostMesh checks these before you send, so you see the problem while you can still fix it.

### The post went out as private

TikTok makes you choose who can watch on every post through the API, with no default, so check the choice first. If a different tool's posts always arrive as Only me, TikTok's guidelines restrict unaudited apps to private posts. Change who can watch on the post in the TikTok app, and use a tool TikTok has approved. If the post went live but isn't reaching people, [why is my TikTok not getting views](/blog/why-is-my-tiktok-not-getting-views) covers what TikTok's own pages say.

## Can I schedule TikTok photo posts?

TikTok's scheduling pages used here describe videos and don't say whether photo posts can be scheduled. Through PostMesh, yes: a photo post can hold up to 35 JPEG or WebP images, 20 MB each, with a title up to 90 characters and a description up to 4,000. Each image can be up to 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, the title works like a headline above the photos, and the description carries the rest of the text and any hashtags. It goes to TikTok only, so make a separate post for your other networks. To crop images for TikTok first, the [TikTok photo resizer](/tools/tiktok-photo-resizer) does it in the browser.

## What time should I schedule TikToks?

Start with what published studies found in the [best time to post on TikTok](/blog/best-time-to-post-on-tiktok) guide, then use your own analytics once you have a few weeks of posts. Scheduled videos don't appear in analytics until they go live, so judge each slot by how the video did afterward, not by the queue. Keep the time zone in mind: TikTok's web scheduler follows your computer's. TikTok's 2021 announcement also said you get a push notification when a scheduled video goes live, which is a useful cue to be around for the first comments.

If you're posting partly to earn from TikTok, [how much TikTok pays for 1 million views](/blog/how-much-does-tiktok-pay-for-1-million-views) explains what's published about payouts.

## A worked example: one week of TikToks

Say you run a small bakery account that posts five times a week on TikTok, and some of those videos also go to Instagram and YouTube. Here's how the week splits across the options above.

- Monday: a 40-second video of the morning bake, edited on your laptop with your own music already in the file. It suits Reels and Shorts too, so you schedule it in PostMesh for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, with a TikTok caption, who can watch set to Everyone, and comments on.
- Tuesday: a video built around a trending TikTok sound. The sound lives in TikTok's library, so you add it in the app and either schedule it there or post it by hand.
- Wednesday: a 12-photo carousel of the week's cakes. Through PostMesh it goes out as a TikTok photo post with a title under 90 characters. Instagram gets a separate post.
- Thursday: a shoppable video linking a cake kit. You schedule it in the TikTok app from Advanced settings, as TikTok Shop's guide describes, and check the product link before you tap Schedule.
- Friday: a 12-minute behind-the-scenes video. It's longer than the 10 minutes TikTok's posting API allows, so it goes to YouTube through a scheduler and gets a shorter cut for TikTok.

Each video goes out the way that suits it, and nothing is pushed through a tool that can't handle it. The [TikTok caption generator](/tools/tiktok-caption-generator) can help with first drafts when you're writing five captions at once.

## How do I plan a week of TikToks in one sitting?

1. **Film and edit in a batch**: Record several videos in one session. Add music to the file itself if you plan to use a scheduler, since TikTok's sound library isn't available to it.
2. **Export clean files**: Vertical video, no other app's watermark, within TikTok's length limit for your account.
3. **Write the captions together**: Up to 2,200 characters for a video. Count with the [TikTok caption counter](/tools/tiktok-caption-character-counter) and pick a few tags with the [TikTok hashtag generator](/tools/tiktok-hashtag-generator).
4. **Decide the settings for each**: Who can watch, comments, Duet and Stitch, and any brand or AI-generated content disclosure.
5. **Schedule inside the window**: Stay within the date picker's limit in TikTok, or 30 days in PostMesh, and within 50 scheduled videos if your account follows TikTok Shop's limit.
6. **Check after each goes live**: Look for inbox notifications and confirm each post is public.

**Before you schedule a TikTok**
- [ ] The video is MP4, MOV or WebM, within your account's length limit
- [ ] Any music is already in the file if you're using a scheduler
- [ ] Who can watch is set, and it isn't private if TikTok's scheduler needs it public
- [ ] Brand and AI-generated content disclosures are on where they apply
- [ ] The time is in your audience's time zone and inside the date picker's window
- [ ] You'll check your TikTok inbox after the scheduled time

*Each item matches a rule on a TikTok page or PostMesh's TikTok page.*

One vertical video between 3 seconds and 3 minutes can go to TikTok, to Instagram as a Reel and to YouTube as a Short in a single PostMesh post. Check the [Instagram Reel size guide](/blog/instagram-reel-size) for Instagram's shapes, and read [how to schedule YouTube videos](/blog/how-to-schedule-youtube-videos) and [how to schedule Instagram posts](/blog/how-to-schedule-instagram-posts) for those networks' own schedulers. [How to post on all social media at once](/blog/how-to-cross-post-to-multiple-platforms) covers adapting one post per network, and [does cross-posting hurt engagement](/blog/does-cross-posting-hurt-engagement) explains why a clean file without another app's watermark matters.

## Questions

### Can you schedule TikToks for free?

Yes. TikTok's own scheduler on tiktok.com costs nothing, and TikTok Shop's guide describes scheduling in the app for shoppable videos.

### How far in advance can you schedule a TikTok?

TikTok's 2021 announcement said 15 minutes to 10 days on the web. TikTok Shop's 2026 guide says 30 minutes to 30 days for shoppable videos. PostMesh allows up to 30 days.

### Can you edit a scheduled TikTok?

No. TikTok says you can't change the video, caption or time after scheduling. Delete it, make your changes and schedule it again.

### Do I need a Business account to schedule TikToks?

TikTok's 2021 announcement said desktop scheduling needs a Business Account. PostMesh works with any TikTok account connected through TikTok sign-in.

### Can I schedule a private TikTok?

TikTok Shop's guide says scheduled videos must be public or limited visibility. In PostMesh you choose who can watch on every post, including private.

### Why did my scheduled TikTok go to my inbox?

TikTok sometimes asks you to finish a post in the app. Tap the inbox notification in TikTok and post it from there.

### Can I use TikTok sounds in a scheduled video?

Not from PostMesh, because TikTok's music library isn't available to it. Put the audio in the video file, or post in the app.

### How many TikToks can I schedule?

TikTok Shop's guide allows up to 50 scheduled videos per account at a time. Through the API, TikTok caps posts at around 15 a day per account, shared across apps.

### Can I schedule TikTok Stories?

PostMesh doesn't post TikTok Stories, and TikTok's scheduling pages used here don't mention them. Post Stories in the app.

### Do scheduled TikToks show in analytics?

Not until they go live, according to TikTok Shop's guide. Before then they're visible only to you, with a clock icon.
