# How to see who viewed your TikTok

Turn on Profile view history under Settings and privacy › Privacy › Profile views to see accounts that viewed your profile in the past 30 days, but only those that also have the setting on. For videos, Post view history shows some viewers of posts from the last 7 days. Both need you to be 16 or older with fewer than 5,000 followers.

TikTok does show you who viewed your profile, and in some cases who watched your videos, but only inside tight limits: a mutual setting, a short time window, an age floor and a follower cap. Those same settings decide whether other people can see that you visited them. This guide explains each feature exactly as TikTok's Help Center describes it, shows how to turn profile views on and off, covers what everyone else can see about you, and explains what TikTok Analytics tells you when names aren't available. Every rule here comes from TikTok's Help Center and Creator Academy pages as they read on October 31, 2026.

## The short answer

You can see who viewed your profile if you turn on Profile view history, are 16 or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers. You'll only see visits from the past 30 days, and only from accounts that also have the setting on. For posts, Post view history works under the same age and follower conditions and covers posts from the last 7 days. For everything else, you get numbers rather than names in TikTok Analytics.

| What you want to see | Can you see it? | Conditions |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who viewed your profile | Yes, with Profile view history | 16+, fewer than 5,000 followers, both of you have it on, visits in the past 30 days |
| Who viewed a video | Partly, with Post view history | 16+, fewer than 5,000 followers. Followers with the setting on, plus anyone who liked or commented, on posts from the last 7 days |
| Who viewed your Story | Yes | Open the Story and swipe up |
| How many people viewed a video | Yes, in Analytics | At least one public post. Not available to everyone |
| How many people viewed your profile | Yes, as a number in Analytics | Shown in the Overview tab |
| Who's online right now | Only mutual followers | 18+, both of you have Activity Status on |

**What are you trying to find out?**
- Who visited my profile → Turn on Profile view history. You'll see visitors from the past 30 days who also have it on.
- Who watched a video → Turn on Post view history. It lists some viewers of posts from the last 7 days.
- How many people watched → Open Analytics in TikTok Studio for views, unique viewers and traffic sources.
- Who saw my Story → Open your Story and swipe up to see the accounts that watched it.

*Each answer has conditions, covered below.*

## How does TikTok's profile view history work?

TikTok's [Profile view history page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/tiktok-profile-visit-history) describes a two-way setting. Turn it on and you can see which accounts have viewed your profile. Visit another account that also has it on, and that person sees your visit. The rules, as TikTok states them:

- You only see visits from accounts that have Profile view history turned on.
- You only see visits from the past 30 days.
- You must be 16 or older to use the feature.
- You must have fewer than 5,000 followers to use the feature.
- The setting is off by default, so nobody shows up until both sides have chosen to turn it on.

- 30 days: How far back profile visits are shown
- 7 days: Posts covered by Post view history
- 16: Minimum age for both features
- 5,000: You need fewer followers than this

*From TikTok's Help Center pages on profile view history and post view history.*

The mutual design is the point. Profile view history isn't a way to watch people secretly. It's an exchange: you see who visited you only by letting others see that you visited them. That's why the same switch controls both directions, and why turning it off hides you and blinds you at the same time.

## How do I turn on profile view history on TikTok?

TikTok gives three ways to reach the same switch. Use whichever is quickest for you.

### From your settings

1. **Open your profile**: In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. **Open settings**: Tap the Menu button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. **Go to Profile views**: Tap Privacy, then tap Profile views.
4. **Turn it on**: Turn the Profile view history setting on. It's off by default.

TikTok: Profile › Menu › Settings and privacy › Privacy › Profile views

*Then turn the Profile view history setting on or off.*

### From your inbox

1. **Open your inbox**: In the TikTok app, tap Inbox at the bottom.
2. **Open Activities**: Tap Activities, then tap the notification that someone has viewed your profile, or tap Profile views. You may need to scroll down.
3. **Open the settings**: From your Profile views, tap the Settings button at the top.
4. **Turn it on**: Turn the Profile view history setting on.

### From your profile

1. **Open your profile**: In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. **Tap Profile views**: Tap the Profile views button at the top.
3. **Open the settings**: Tap the Settings button at the top.
4. **Turn it on**: Turn the Profile view history setting on.

Once it's on, your list of visitors lives in the same Profile views screen you reach from your profile or inbox. TikTok's steps are all for the app, so if you mostly use TikTok in a browser, see [how to watch TikTok without the app](/blog/how-to-watch-tiktok-without-the-app) for what the website covers, and use your phone for this setting.

## How do I turn off profile views on TikTok?

Use any of the three routes above and turn Profile view history off. TikTok says that turning it off means you won't see who has viewed your profile, and others won't see that you've viewed theirs. You can switch it back on whenever you like.

TikTok, Privacy:
- Private account
- Activity Status
- Profile views: Profile view history (tap this)
- Post views: Post view history
- Direct messages
- Comments
- Blocked accounts

*Settings TikTok's Help Center places under Privacy. Their order in your app may differ.*

If you want to browse without leaving a trace, turn off Post view history as well, since it's a separate switch on the Post views screen. Keep in mind the two exceptions covered next: Story views and likes or comments are visible whatever these settings say.

## Can people see that you viewed their TikTok profile?

Only if you both have Profile view history on. If they do and you do, your visit appears in their Profile views list for 30 days, and TikTok's inbox can show them a notification that someone viewed their profile. If either of you has it off, the visit isn't shown. And if they're under 16 or have 5,000 or more followers, they don't have the feature at all.

**They can see you when**
- You both have Profile view history on and you visit their profile
- You view their Story, whatever your settings
- You like or comment on one of their recent posts and they use Post view history

**They can't see you when**
- Your Profile view history is off
- Their Profile view history is off
- Your visit was more than 30 days ago
- They're under 16 or have 5,000+ followers

*From TikTok's pages on profile view history, post view history and watching Stories.*

### A worked example

Say you're deciding whether to look at someone's profile and videos, and you want to know what they'll see. Applying TikTok's rules to a few common cases:

| What you do | Your settings | Their settings | What they see |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Visit their profile | Profile view history on | Profile view history on | Your visit, for 30 days |
| Visit their profile | Profile view history off | Profile view history on | Nothing |
| Visit their profile | Profile view history on | Profile view history off | Nothing, and you won't see their visits to you either |
| Visit their profile | Profile view history on | On, but they have 6,000 followers | Nothing, because the feature isn't available to them |
| Watch their Story | Everything off, private account | Anything | You, in their Story viewers |
| Like a video they posted 3 days ago | Post view history off | Post view history on | Your like, shown as a view |
| Watch a video they posted 3 weeks ago | Post view history on | Post view history on | Nothing, because the post is older than 7 days |

The pattern is consistent: profile and post views need both people to opt in and both to qualify, while Stories, likes and comments are visible on their own terms. If you want to look without being seen, keep both view history settings off and skip Stories, likes and comments.

### Stories are the big exception

TikTok's [page on watching Stories](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/watching-stories-on-tiktok) is direct about it: people can see you viewed their Story even if your account is private or your profile view history is turned off. If you open someone's Story, assume they'll know.

### Does a private account hide your visits?

No. Profile view history depends on the setting, not on whether your account is public or private. TikTok's [private account page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7543538137926998533) explains that a private account controls who can follow you and see your content. Your name, username and profile photo stay visible to anyone either way.

## Why can't I see who viewed my TikTok profile?

If the list is empty or the option is missing, one of TikTok's conditions usually explains it:

| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| No Profile views option under Privacy | You're under 16, or you have 5,000 or more followers | The feature isn't available to you. Analytics still shows a profile views count |
| The option disappeared | Your account may have reached 5,000 followers | Use the profile views number in Analytics instead |
| The setting is on but the list is empty | Visitors also need the setting on, and it's off by default | Nothing is wrong. Only opted-in visitors appear |
| Someone you know visited but isn't listed | Their setting is off, or the visit was over 30 days ago | There's no way to see visits the feature doesn't record |
| You can't find Analytics | TikTok says it isn't available to everyone, and you need a public post | Post at least one public video and check again |

### If you're under 16

Both view history features start at 16. TikTok's [teen privacy page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/privacy-and-safety-settings-for-users-under-age-18) explains that some features aren't available until you turn 16 or 18, and that a parent using Family Pairing may manage some of your settings. Activity Status, covered below, starts at 18. For parents, TikTok's [Family Pairing page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7543604781667867142) says a linked account gets a view-only overview of the teen's privacy settings, such as account visibility and who can comment, and can decide whether the teen's account is private and whether it's suggested to others.

### If you have 5,000 followers or more

Larger accounts don't get Profile view history or Post view history. TikTok doesn't explain why on its pages. What you do get is aggregate data: the Overview tab in Analytics shows how many profile views you received over the period you pick, along with post views, likes, comments and shares.

### What about apps that show profile visitors?

TikTok's Help Center describes Profile view history as the way to see profile visitors and describes no other method. Be wary of apps or websites that promise a full list of everyone who viewed your profile, and never give your TikTok password to one. We cover the same problem on Instagram in [who doesn't follow you back on Instagram](/blog/who-doesnt-follow-you-back-on-instagram), where third-party follower apps are a common risk.

## Can you see who viewed your TikTok videos?

Partly. TikTok has a separate setting called Post view history. Its [Help Center page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/tiktok-post-view-history) says it lets you see who has viewed your posts, and that if you turn it on, people you follow who also have it on can see that you viewed their posts. It lists the views it displays:

- Views from people who follow you, have Post view history on, and viewed your posts.
- Views from people who don't follow you but liked or commented on your posts, whether or not they have Post view history on.
- Views on your posts that were posted within the last 7 days.

Like profile views, it's only available to people who are 16 or older with fewer than 5,000 followers. TikTok also notes that your Story view history is separate and isn't affected by this setting.

### How to turn Post view history on or off

1. **Open your profile**: In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. **Open settings**: Tap the Menu button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. **Go to Post views**: Tap Privacy, then select Post views.
4. **Switch it**: Turn Post view history on or off.

### What Post view history won't show

Reading TikTok's list closely, most viewers of a typical video won't appear by name. Someone who doesn't follow you and only watched won't be listed. A follower who has the setting off and didn't like or comment won't be listed either. And posts older than 7 days fall outside it. For a video that reaches people through the For You feed, where many viewers don't follow you, the list will be a small slice of the total view count. Our [glossary entry on the FYP](/glossary/fyp) explains how that feed works.

> TikTok's pages don't describe any way to see the names of everyone who watched a video. For the full picture, use the totals and audience breakdowns in Analytics.

## Can people see if you watched their TikTok?

Sometimes. It depends on your settings and what you did:

- If you follow them and you both have Post view history on, your view of a recent post can appear in their list.
- If you like or comment, TikTok says it still appears as a view to them even if your Post view history is off.
- If you watch their Story, they can see it regardless of your settings.
- If you only watch, with Post view history off, and don't like or comment, TikTok's rules give them no way to see your name.

Likes are visible in other ways too. TikTok's private account page notes that on a public account, anyone can see your videos, LIVE videos, bio and likes, as well as your followers and following lists. On Instagram the rules are different: [how to see who liked your Instagram post](/blog/how-to-see-who-liked-your-instagram-post) covers what's visible there.

## How do I see how many views my TikTok videos get?

TikTok Analytics gives you the numbers behind every post. TikTok's [Analytics help page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7639468340976785941) describes it as a free tool covering content performance, audience demographics and engagement trends. To open it in the app, tap Profile, then the Menu button, then TikTok Studio, then Analytics in the Posts tab.

TikTok: Profile › Menu › TikTok Studio › Analytics

*TikTok says Analytics isn't available to everyone yet.*

TikTok's [Creator Academy article on analytics](https://www.tiktok.com/creator-academy/en/article/tool-analytics-intro), last updated October 13, 2026, adds two more ways in: the Analytics tab on the left of TikTok Studio Web, and the Analytics tab at the bottom of the separate TikTok Studio app. Its [account types page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/growing-your-audience/switching-to-a-creator-or-business-account) notes you need at least one public post to access analytics.

### What each Analytics tab shows

| Tab | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Overview | Post views, profile views, likes, comments, shares and estimated rewards, plus traffic sources and the search queries that led people to you |
| Content | Your 10 top posts for the period, ranked by views, likes, new viewers and new followers. Tap one for retention, traffic sources and viewer information |
| Viewers | Unique and returning viewers, inferred gender, age and location, most active times in the last 7 days, and what your audience also watches and follows |
| Followers | Gender, age and top locations of your followers, and when they're active by hour and day |
| LIVE | Number of LIVEs, total views, total LIVE time, new viewers, new followers, unique viewers and Diamonds |

TikTok notes that the viewer demographics come from predictive models rather than confirmed user data, so treat them as estimates. Nothing in Analytics names individual viewers.

### Analytics for a single video

Each video has its own analytics page. The Creator Academy suggests starting with total video views, then looking at three metrics: retention rate, the share of the video people watched; average watch time, how long viewers stayed on average; and watched full video, the share of people who watched to the last few seconds. It also shows when in the video people engaged, such as the moment most people liked it.

### Date ranges and downloads

You can view the last 7, 28, 60 or 365 days, or set a custom range. On the web, custom ranges only go back as far as July 17, 2022, and older data is in the app. You can download up to 365 days of analytics at a time. LIVE data can be filtered by the last 7 to 28 days.

### If you have a Business Account

Verified Business Accounts find their analytics in the Business Suite instead. TikTok's account types page says the Business Suite holds the analytics dashboard and other business tools, that you can reach it in the app or on the web at tiktok.com/business-suite, and that the same rule applies: you need at least one public post to see analytics. The view history pages don't say whether Business Accounts can use Profile view history or Post view history, so if you don't see the switches under Privacy, the follower and age conditions are the first things to check.

### If the numbers look wrong

TikTok's Analytics page says the data is based on its system calculations and may be delayed depending on the post, so it suggests waiting a few days to see if inaccuracies resolve. If you're still stuck, tap Need more help at the bottom of the Help Center article in the app to submit a ticket with screenshots.

## How do I see who viewed my TikTok Story?

Story views are the one place TikTok shows names without any opt-in. TikTok's [Stories page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/creating-videos/tiktok-stories) says you can see the total number of views and the accounts that watched:

1. **Open your Story**: In the TikTok app, tap your profile photo at the top of your Following feed, inbox or profile.
2. **Check the count**: Go to the Story you want. The total number of views shows at the bottom.
3. **See who watched**: Swipe up to see who viewed your Story.

Stories stay visible for 24 hours unless you save them to a Highlight, and Highlights keep the visibility settings of the original Story.

## What else can other people see about your TikTok activity?

View history is one of several settings that reveal what you're doing. If privacy is the reason you're reading this, check these too:

| Setting | What others can see | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Profile view history | That you visited their profile, if they have it on too | Off |
| Post view history | That you viewed their recent posts, if you follow them and they have it on too | Not stated |
| Activity Status | A green dot when you're online, or when you were last active, for mutual followers who also have it on | Off |
| Read status | When you've read their message, if you both have it on | On for people 18 and older |
| Private account | When off, anyone can see your videos, LIVEs, bio, likes and follower lists | Varies by age |

### Activity Status

TikTok's [Activity Status page](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/activity-status-on-tiktok) says you see when mutual followers are active only if both of you have Activity Status on, and you must be 18 or older to use it. An active account shows a green dot on its profile picture, which may linger for a while after someone goes inactive, and the last active time appears in your inbox and message threads for up to 2 days. Turn it on or off under Profile › Menu › Settings and privacy › Privacy › Activity Status. The idea is similar on other networks: see [how to turn off active status on Instagram](/blog/how-to-turn-off-active-status-on-instagram) and [what LinkedIn's green dot means](/blog/linkedin-green-dot-meaning).

### Read status in messages

TikTok's [Manage direct messages page](https://www.tiktok.com/support/faq_detail?id=7543897461052529158) says the other person knows you've read their message only when you both have read status on. It's on by default for people 18 and older, and you'll find it under Settings and privacy › Privacy › Direct messages › Read status.

### Cutting someone off entirely

If you don't want a particular person seeing your profile at all, view history settings won't do it. A block stops you both from seeing each other's posts or finding each other in search. [How to block someone on TikTok](/blog/how-to-block-someone-on-tiktok) covers every route and what the other person can still see.

## How to use view data to grow on TikTok

Knowing who looked at your profile is interesting, but the aggregate numbers are what help you make better videos. A few ways to use them:

**A monthly Analytics check**
- [ ] Compare post views with profile views to see if videos send people to your profile
- [ ] Look at traffic sources for each top post
- [ ] Read the search queries that brought viewers in
- [ ] Find where retention drops in your last few videos
- [ ] Note your viewers' most active times
- [ ] Track new followers per post, not just views

*Every item uses a metric from TikTok's Creator Academy article on analytics.*

Profile views relative to post views is a useful signal on its own. A video with many views but few profile visits may have entertained people without making them curious about the rest of your account. If views themselves are falling, [why is my TikTok not getting views](/blog/why-is-my-tiktok-not-getting-views) works through the causes TikTok documents, and our glossary entry on [reach vs impressions](/glossary/reach-vs-impressions) explains why unique viewers and total views differ. To turn likes, comments and shares into one comparable number, try the [engagement rate calculator](/tools/engagement-rate-calculator), and see our guide to [social media engagement rate](/blog/social-media-engagement-rate).

The Viewers tab's most active times show when your audience was on TikTok over the last 7 days. Posting at those hours is easier if you don't have to be at your phone: [PostMesh](/platform/tiktok) can schedule TikTok videos and photo posts up to 30 days ahead through TikTok's official API, so the video goes out when your viewers are around. The [TikTok scheduling guide](/blog/how-to-schedule-tiktok-videos) explains the setup, and [the best time to post on TikTok](/blog/best-time-to-post-on-tiktok) summarizes what published studies found. If you're growing toward TikTok's monetization programs, the estimated rewards figure in Overview connects to the programs in [how to make money on TikTok](/blog/how-to-make-money-on-tiktok), and the [TikTok hashtag generator](/tools/tiktok-hashtag-generator) can help with discovery in the meantime.

## Questions

### Can you see who viewed your TikTok profile?

Yes, with Profile view history turned on, if you're 16 or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers. You'll see visits from the past 30 days by accounts that also have the setting on.

### Does TikTok tell someone when you view their profile?

Only if you both have Profile view history on. Then your visit appears in their Profile views, and their inbox can show a notification that someone viewed their profile.

### How do I turn off profile views on TikTok?

Go to Profile › Menu › Settings and privacy › Privacy › Profile views and turn Profile view history off. You'll stop seeing visitors, and others won't see your visits.

### Why don't I have the Profile views option?

TikTok only offers it to people who are 16 or older with fewer than 5,000 followers. If you don't meet both, the feature isn't available.

### Can I see who viewed my TikTok if I have more than 5,000 followers?

Not by name. Analytics in TikTok Studio still shows how many profile views and post views you got over a chosen period.

### Can people see that I watched their TikTok video?

They can if you follow them and you both have Post view history on, or if you liked or commented on one of their recent posts. Liking or commenting counts as a view even with your setting off.

### Does a private account hide my profile visits?

No. Profile view history depends on the setting, not on whether your account is private. Story views are visible either way.

### How long does TikTok show profile views?

TikTok shows profile visits from the past 30 days. Post view history covers posts from the last 7 days.

### Can I see who viewed my TikTok Story?

Yes. Open your Story to see the total views at the bottom, then swipe up to see the accounts that watched it.

### Do apps that show TikTok profile visitors work?

TikTok describes Profile view history as the way to see visitors and describes no other method. Don't give your TikTok password to an app that promises more.
