Meta Business Suite is Meta's free tool for running a business's Facebook Page and Instagram account in one place. From desktop or its mobile app you can create and schedule posts, stories and reels, answer messages and comments, read insights and create simple ads.

## What Meta Business Suite is

Meta Business Suite is a dashboard for businesses and creators on Meta's apps. Meta's business help center says it helps you manage your business and online presence centrally across [Facebook](/platform/facebook), [Instagram](/platform/instagram), Threads and WhatsApp, and that it's free to use on desktop and in the Meta Business Suite mobile app.

Instead of switching between the Facebook app, the Instagram app and Messenger, you see your Page and Instagram account side by side. You can write one post for both, schedule it, answer comments and messages from one inbox, and check how it performed. That's the whole idea: one place for the everyday work of a business account.

One thing it isn't is a tool for every network. It covers Meta's own apps. It also isn't the same as Ads Manager. Meta says Business Suite is for quick, simple ads and boosted posts, and points you to Ads Manager for detailed campaigns with advanced targeting.

## Where Meta Business Suite comes from

It launched under another name. In an announcement dated September 17, 2020, Facebook introduced Facebook Business Suite as a single place across mobile and desktop for businesses to manage Facebook and Instagram, with posting, messaging, insights and advertising tools. It said it would roll out gradually that September, that eligible users would be redirected to it at business.facebook.com on desktop, and that people using the Pages Manager app on mobile would see an option to switch.

The name changed when the company did. Meta's help center now notes that the Facebook company is now Meta, and Facebook Business Suite is now Meta Business Suite, with the same products continuing. Where the 2020 announcement talked about Facebook and Instagram, today's help center also names Threads and WhatsApp, along with newer features like A/B tests and a creator marketplace.

## What you can do in Meta Business Suite

Meta's help center lists the main areas. Each lives in the left menu on desktop or the bottom menu in the app.

| Area | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Home | An overview with a to-do list, recent and scheduled content, and tips |
| Notifications | Alerts about recent activity or things that need your attention |
| Content | Create, schedule and manage posts, stories and reels, run A/B tests and save ideas |
| Planner | A weekly or monthly calendar of published and scheduled content and ads |
| Inbox | Messages and comments from your Page, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp Business in one place |
| Insights | Performance, content results and audience details |
| Ads | Create simple ads or boost content and track how they perform |
| Monetization | An overview of monetization products, insights and policy issues |
| All tools | Links to Ads Manager, Events Manager, billing and Page settings |

There's also a creator marketplace for finding Instagram creators to work with, which matters if you run [sponsored posts](/glossary/sponsored-post). And the Inbox can run automations that answer common questions for you, which is handy if your [DMs](/glossary/dm) fill up with the same three questions.

Inbox is worth a closer look if you get a lot of messages. Meta says it gathers new messages and comments from your Facebook Page, Messenger, your Instagram account and your WhatsApp Business account into one place, so one person can answer all of them without switching apps. For a small team that answers customers directly, that alone can be a good reason to use Business Suite rather than the separate apps.

## What you need before you start

Meta says your business needs a business portfolio, a container that holds your business assets, such as a Facebook Page, an Instagram account and an ad account, along with the people who have access to them. To create a post, you need either full control of the Page or Instagram account, or content permission for it. On the mobile app, Meta says you need at least partial access and must be assigned to manage the accounts.

**Ready to use Meta Business Suite when**
- [ ] You have a Facebook Page for your business
- [ ] Your Instagram account is connected, if you want to post there too
- [ ] Both sit in a business portfolio
- [ ] You have full control or content permission for the accounts
- [ ] You know whether you need Business Suite or Ads Manager for ads

## How to create and schedule a post

Scheduling is the feature most people come for. On desktop, Meta's help center gives these steps.

1. **Start a post**: Go to Meta Business Suite and click Create post, from the home page or the Content tab.
2. **Pick where it goes**: Under Post to, choose your Facebook Page, Instagram profile or Facebook Group.
3. **Add media**: Under Media, add your photos. Meta notes the limit for Instagram is 10 photos.
4. **Write the text**: Under Post details, write your caption. You can customize the text separately for Facebook and Instagram and add hashtags or a location.
5. **Choose a time**: Under Scheduling options, pick a date and time. Click Active times to see recommended times based on when your followers were most active over the past 7 days.
6. **Finish**: Click Publish, Schedule or Finish later.

Writing different text for Facebook and Instagram is worth the minute it takes, because the two audiences and their [caption](/glossary/caption) habits differ. Our guides to the [best time to post on Facebook](/blog/best-time-to-post-on-facebook) and [how to schedule Instagram posts](/blog/how-to-schedule-instagram-posts) go deeper on timing and the options on each app.

## Planner, Content and Insights

Planner is the calendar. Meta says it shows published and scheduled posts, stories, reels and ads for your Page and Instagram account in a week or month view. You can filter by content type or by where it was shared, hover over an upcoming day to schedule something new, and open a scheduled item's Options to reschedule or delete it. If you plan with a [content calendar](/glossary/content-calendar), this is where it lives inside Meta.

The Content tab is the list view. Under Posts & reels, items are sorted into Published, Scheduled, Drafts, Expiring and Expired. From a post's menu you can edit it, reschedule it, move it to drafts, delete it, add a collaborator for a [collab post](/glossary/collab-post), or turn remixing on or off.

Insights is where you measure. Meta's help center lists tabs that may include an Overview of the past 28 days with metrics such as Views and Follows, Results with Views, Content interactions and Link clicks, an Audience tab with age, gender, location, interests and when followers are most active, Messaging metrics such as response rate, Benchmarking against similar businesses, a Content table for individual posts, and Ads performance. If you're comparing posts, our entries on [reach vs impressions](/glossary/reach-vs-impressions) and [engagement rate](/glossary/engagement-rate) explain what the numbers mean.

## Common problems and their fixes

Meta's troubleshooting page names three symptoms: an error when you create or schedule a post, a post meant for both Facebook and Instagram that only publishes to one, and a scheduled post that doesn't go out on time. It gives these causes and fixes.

- No access to publish: ask the owner of the business portfolio or the asset to assign you access to the right Page or Instagram account.
- An unresolved issue on the Instagram account: open the Instagram app, follow any pop-up notice to resolve it, then try again.
- A hacked Instagram account: if you can't log in, follow Instagram's steps for hacked accounts first.
- A system error on a scheduled post: go to Content, then Scheduled, find the failed post and click Publish now.

> Meta Business Suite only reaches Meta's apps. If you also post to X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube or Reddit, a cross-network scheduler such as PostMesh can publish the same post to Facebook Pages and Instagram along with those, with each network's limits checked before it goes out.

For more on that choice, our comparison of a [social media scheduler vs a management platform](/blog/social-media-scheduler-vs-management-platform) explains when each makes sense. And if you're tidying up old accounts, our guide on [how to delete a Facebook Page](/blog/how-to-delete-a-facebook-page) covers the steps.
