# Schedule Discord posts with a channel webhook

Yes. PostMesh posts to a Discord channel, forum or thread through a webhook you make in the channel’s settings, right away or scheduled up to 12 months ahead. A post over 2,000 characters goes out as up to 5 messages.

## What you need

- A Discord server where you can manage webhooks on the channel (the Manage Webhooks permission).
- A channel, forum channel or thread to post to.

## Discord at a glance

- **Account:** A Discord channel, forum channel or thread, connected with a webhook you make in the channel’s settings. Each webhook is its own account.
- **Text:** Up to 10,000 characters. A message holds 2,000, so a longer post goes out as up to 5 messages, split between paragraphs.
- **Each post:** Text only or up to 10 photos and videos.
- **Photos:** Any JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF up to 40 MB. Discord takes JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 10 MB, and gets a JPEG copy that fits when a photo doesn’t. Files go on the first message, up to 25 MB together, each with its own alt text.
- **Video:** MP4, MOV or WebM, up to 10 MB.
- **Forums and threads:** A forum post title (up to 100 characters) starts a new post on a forum channel, or Post in a thread sends it into an existing thread.
- **Pings:** @everyone, @here and role mentions don’t notify anyone unless you switch on Ping everyone and roles for that post.
- **Scheduling:** Up to 12 months ahead. PostMesh sends it within a minute of the time you pick.
- **Analytics:** None: Discord doesn’t share views or reactions with webhooks.

## How to post to Discord

1. **Connect Discord.** Make a webhook in the channel’s settings (Integrations, then Webhooks) and paste its URL into Connections. PostMesh keeps it encrypted.
2. **Open New post.** Pick the Discord channels you want, plus any other networks.
3. **Write the post.** Up to 10,000 characters; over 2,000, it goes out as several messages. For a forum channel, add a Forum post title, or use Post in a thread to post into an existing thread.
4. **Add media.** Add up to 10 photos and videos, or keep it text only.
5. **Post now or schedule.** Under When, choose Now to send it right away, or Later and a time up to 12 months ahead.
6. **Check the result.** Posts shows whether Discord accepted it. If it failed, Retry failed sends again only to the accounts that failed.

- Channels without a webhook
- Forum tags
- Polls

## Fixes for common errors

- **“This webhook posts to a forum channel”:** Give the post a Forum post title, or a thread in Post in a thread.
- **Discord says the webhook was deleted:** Make a new webhook in the channel’s settings and reconnect the channel in Connections.
- **A file is rejected:** Discord takes files up to 10 MB each and 25 MB together. Use smaller files.

## What PostMesh can see

- **Sees:** The webhook’s name and avatar, and the server and channel it posts to. The webhook URL is stored encrypted.

### Why a webhook instead of a sign-in?

A webhook lets PostMesh post to one channel and nothing else. It can’t read your messages or reach your other channels.

### Will a scheduled post ping everyone?

No. @everyone, @here and role mentions don’t notify anyone unless you switch on Ping everyone and roles for that post.

### Does PostMesh post to Discord automatically?

Yes. It posts through Discord’s official API at the time you pick. There’s no phone reminder to tap.

### How far ahead can I schedule Discord posts?

Up to 12 months. PostMesh checks its queue every minute and sends each post when it’s due.

### Can I post to several Discord channels at once?

Yes. Pick every channel you want in New post. Each one counts toward your plan’s connected-account limit.

### Can I change a scheduled post?

Yes. Open it in Posts, select Edit, make your changes and select Save changes. A post that has started sending can’t be changed.

### Is there a free plan?
