# Schedule YouTube videos and Shorts

Yes. PostMesh uploads videos to your YouTube channels through the official YouTube API, with a title, description, tags, thumbnail and Made for kids setting, right away or scheduled up to 12 months ahead. Vertical videos up to 3 minutes are marked as Shorts automatically.

## What you need

- A Google account with a YouTube channel. Create the channel on YouTube first if you don’t have one.
- Allow both permissions Google asks for: upload videos, and view your channel.
- A verified channel, if you want custom thumbnails.

## YouTube at a glance

- **Account:** Your YouTube channels, connected with your Google account. Pick several and the video uploads to each.
- **Video:** MP4, MOV, WebM, MPEG, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP or MXF, up to 256 GB, uploaded in chunks.
- **Title and description:** A title up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 bytes (about 5,000 letters in English).
- **Options:** Up to 15 tags, a custom thumbnail (JPEG or PNG under 2 MB, verified channels), and Made for kids.
- **Shorts:** A vertical video up to 3 minutes is marked as a Short automatically.
- **Scheduling:** Up to 12 months ahead. The video uploads as private and YouTube makes it public at the time you pick.
- **Visibility:** Public, unlisted or private when you post now. Scheduled videos go public at the time you pick.
- **Analytics:** Views, likes and comments for videos sent from PostMesh.

## How to post to YouTube

1. **Connect YouTube.** Sign in with Google and choose your YouTube channel. We never see your password.
2. **Open New post.** Pick the YouTube accounts you want, plus any other networks.
3. **Add a title and details.** Write a title up to 100 characters and a description up to 5,000 bytes, then add up to 15 tags, a thumbnail, and Made for kids if it applies.
4. **Add media.** Add one video: MP4, MOV, WebM, MPEG, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP or MXF, up to 256 GB. Keep the tab open while it uploads.
5. **Post now or schedule.** Under When, choose Now to send it right away, or Later and a time up to 12 months ahead.
6. **Check the result.** Posts shows whether YouTube accepted it. If it failed, Retry failed sends again only to the accounts that failed.

## Fixes for common errors

- **“YouTube channel required”:** Create a channel on YouTube, then connect again.
- **“YouTube permission required”:** Connect again and allow both permissions Google asks for.
- **The thumbnail didn’t apply:** YouTube only accepts custom thumbnails on verified channels. The video still uploads.
- **The video is private:** Scheduled videos stay private until the time you picked, then YouTube makes them public.

- **Sees:** Your channel name, handle and picture, the titles of your latest uploads (to avoid uploading twice), and the views, likes and comments on videos you send from PostMesh.

## Questions

### How do Shorts work?

Upload a vertical video of 3 minutes or less and PostMesh marks it as a Short. There’s no separate Shorts switch.

### Can I set a thumbnail?

Yes, a JPEG or PNG under 2 MB. YouTube only accepts custom thumbnails on verified channels.

### What does PostMesh read from my channel?

Your channel name and picture, and the views, likes and comments of videos you sent from PostMesh. Our Privacy Policy lists everything.

### Does PostMesh post to YouTube automatically?

Yes. It posts through YouTube’s official API at the time you pick. There’s no phone reminder to tap.

### How far ahead can I schedule YouTube posts?

Up to 12 months. PostMesh checks its queue every minute and sends each post when it’s due.

### Can I post to several YouTube channels at once?

Yes. Pick every channel you want in New post. Each one counts toward your plan’s connected-account limit.

### Can I change a scheduled post?

Yes. Open it in Posts, select Edit, make your changes and select Save changes. A post that has started sending can’t be changed.

### Is there a free plan?

No. Creator, Growth and Pro all start with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, and you can cancel before it ends.
