# LinkedIn headline counter

Canonical: https://postmesh.app/tools/linkedin-headline-character-counter

Paste your text to check it against LinkedIn’s headline and profile limits, counted the way LinkedIn counts.

## How it works

Where LinkedIn publishes a limit, the counter links to the page that states it. Where LinkedIn doesn’t publish one, the limit is marked as reported: it’s the number LinkedIn’s app is widely reported to enforce, and the app has the final say.

Where LinkedIn counts emoji or accented letters differently, the counter does the same. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

## Steps

1. Type or paste your text.

2. Read the count against each limit.

3. Shorten anything marked over.

## LinkedIn limits at a glance

| Field | Limit | Basis |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Headline | 220 characters | Reported, not on a help page |
| About | 2,600 characters | Reported, not on a help page |
| Comment | 1,250 characters | Reported, not on a help page |

## Questions

### Where do these LinkedIn limits come from?

From LinkedIn’s own documentation where it publishes one, linked under the counter. The others are marked as reported because LinkedIn doesn’t state them on a help page.

### Is my text saved?

No. The count runs in your browser.

### Can PostMesh post to LinkedIn for me?

Yes. PostMesh checks a post against LinkedIn’s rules and publishes it now or on a schedule, along with the other networks you use.

Interactive controls are available on the HTML page. Image and text utilities run in the browser; AI writers submit descriptions to PostMesh and OpenAI.
