# UTM link builder

Canonical: https://postmesh.app/tools/utm-builder

Add source, medium and campaign tags to a link so your analytics shows which post, network and campaign each visit came from.

## How it works

UTM parameters are tags at the end of a link, such as utm_source=instagram. Analytics tools such as Google Analytics read them and group visits by them, so you can compare networks and posts.

Values are lowercased and spaces become hyphens, so “Spring Launch” and “spring-launch” don’t end up as two campaigns. It runs in your browser.

## Steps

1. Paste the page you’re linking to.

2. Fill in source (the network), medium (social) and campaign.

3. Copy the link and use it in your post.

## Questions

### What do source, medium and campaign mean?

Source is where the visit came from, such as instagram. Medium is the kind of channel, such as social. Campaign is the launch or promotion it belongs to.

### Do UTM tags change the page?

No. The page loads the same; the tags are only read by analytics.

### Should I tag links in my bio?

Yes, with a source for each network, so you can see which bio sends visits.

Interactive controls are available on the HTML page. Image and text utilities run in the browser; AI writers submit descriptions to PostMesh and OpenAI.
