Post to a Discord channel through its webhook.
In short: Discord connects through a channel webhook, not a sign-in. Make one in the channel’s settings, paste its URL into Connections, and PostMesh posts there as the webhook. A post over 2,000 characters goes out as up to five messages.

Make a channel webhook

1

Open the channel's settings

You need the Manage Webhooks permission on the server. Hover over the channel and use the gear icon, Edit Channel.
2

Create the webhook

Then Integrations, Webhooks and New Webhook. The webhook’s name and avatar are what your posts show as.
3

Copy its URL

Use Copy Webhook URL. Treat the URL like a password: anyone who has it can post to that channel.
4

Add it to PostMesh

Paste the URL into Connections. PostMesh checks it with Discord before saving it, and keeps it encrypted.
To post into one thread every time, add ?thread_id= and the thread’s id to the end of the URL. Each thread connected this way is its own account.

Forum channels and threads

In the composer, Discord’s own settings have two optional fields. Use one or the other, not both.
  • Forum post title starts a new post on a forum channel, up to 100 characters. Left blank, the post’s first line is the title.
  • Post in a thread sends the post into an existing thread in the webhook’s channel. Paste the thread’s link or its id.

Pings

Ping everyone and roles is off by default, so a scheduled post never notifies a whole server by surprise. @everyone, @here and role mentions still show in the message, but only people you mention by name are notified. Switch it on for a post that should ping them.

Long posts and files

  • A Discord message holds 2,000 characters. A longer post goes out as up to five messages, split between paragraphs where it can, so one post holds up to 10,000 characters.
  • Photos and videos go on the first message: up to 10 files, each up to 10 MB and 25 MB together.
  • Each file can have its own alt text. Left blank, the alt text saved in your media library is used.
